let the insurers take him to court. was in a similar accident, asked the guilty party if he had insurance he said no, told him "good, i am fixing through insurance, they might take care of you then", of which they did.
Insurance might just write the car off for that damage. Small claims court is best.

Insurance will always claim (or attempt to) if they can. But realistically they're not going to attach assets for this level of damage (they might not even bother).

In a larger claim they'll try to attach assets but given how poor the vast majority of South Africans are (especially those without even insurance...) the reality is your insurance will eat the hit.

Karma/life/God/god will teach you a hard lesson...agree with you, sometimes it just isnt worth lowering yourself to the levels that some of these cucumbers/blobs operate at

Never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

That damage almost doenst look bad enough to warrant such a big repair job...maybe another PDR opinion and some touchup paint and send it?
I have contacted another PDR guy thanks to Fellow Fanatic sharing contact. Will come out to see it and advise

Boot shocks gave in and i decided to call Shamiels BMW spares to see if they had replacements, And they quoted me a Hell of a R250 EACH for second hand ones.

I told the wife its fine, i will check Temu to see if They sell as i would expect BMW to be Very expensive with these.
Been using the Rearglass as a boot since the shocks gave in so there was no urgency to replace but on my list to get around to doing it.
my wife decided to suprise me and she went on Temu and Went hunting and she found these thats for a Alpina Touring.

Was about R350 for the 2

Google states they the same as regular touring but the clearly do not fit. :|
Everything is the same and correct aside from the CLips.
And i could not repurpose the Old clips as the thread on the ends of the new replacement shocks were bigger.

Atleast i got a Refund for the Items and No need to return them. :)

So only option now was to call BMW and get a quote
While expecting A massive price for these, I was suprised when they quoted me a Measly R166 for 2. :|

Recieved them and Installed and Reiterated to myself the importance of always calling the Dealer first

A friend bought some struts for his E83 X3 from McNaugtons in Bellville. Bonnet was R250/pr and boot R350/pr. Lifetime guarantee iirc. I was impressed with the service as the guys fitted it for him at their shop.

Another las is the dealer and some of their rules. (ok i guess its to protect them and the owner of the cars)
So not too long ago, before i fixed the Central locking from the buttons, i was using the key in door lock to lock and unlock the doors.

but since its common issue for those door locks to break, It broke and i could not get into the car. so i had a door lock from 1 of the Donor cars and i just put that in solong.(drove around with 2 keys. 1 for starting car, and 2 for unlocking doors. lol

Eventually i sorted the door locks and i sold the donor cars lockset and i gave the buyer both keys. (If i knew then what i know now, i would have kept 1 key for the door lock i have on my car)

I now wanted to Get the door lock sorted in the event the battery dies or Key battery dies, then i can get into the car.
I call bmw to order a door lock + Key off the Vin of the donor car so that when its delivered, it will just work with my current key , but since the car was scrapped, i Provided the Deregistration forms and copy of my ID...

bmw flat out rejected it and advised they cannot use the deregistration forms to order the door lock.

With my hands tied, No Parts from previous donorcars and dealer not wanting to assist, i bought a door lock on Temu with a Key and i must say this now, DONT.
Casting is Crap and it does not fit properly.
And the Thread for the bolt that holds the door lock in, Does not line up. ( Maybe i got a bad one from the batch, but i dont understand all the good Reviews from people saying it works and is Great).

I ended up stripping and drilling out the original key lock so that i can use the housing.
I stripped the Temu doorlock, removed the Barrel and then Messed around with the Key slids and matched 3 of the slides that work with my original key.

used the Barrel in the old Original bmw housing with all the original parts of it, And now the key works. No xtra keys.
it sticks abit because of the poor quality of the barrel and Slides of the Temu lock, but Just need it to work once if ever i cannot get into the car.

If anyone has a Barrell and key for an E46, please PM me, i would like to buy it from you so that i can redo the lock slides with all original parts

i will share more Pics tomorrow of the process and how kak that Spring is to put back
