Howzit guys
Its been a while

I might be in the market for an F80 2017-2018 so plans have expired. I did find a couple where the mileage is under 50k.
I would be taking a aftermarket warranty on purchasing.
Anything i should look out for with these motors, common issues etc?

Thanks in advance

I have a 2015 F80, bought it 3 years ago. Had 30,000 km at the time and now close to 80,000 km.

Have done oil service every 10,000km and all other service required as per computer.
The only known issue is the crank hub failure but this is for modified cars putting down more power, so have not concerned myself with this as stock power is more than enough for me.

I've only done the M Performance exhaust for better sound.

Started using it daily recently and quite impressed with consumption - sitting at 9.4l/100km. I have had nothing but joy from it.

Be careful of the fun factor when you get it 🤩

yeah, I've also read that these cars are surprisingly reliable as M-cars. You will also find a few high-mileage m4's for sale.

50k km with hassle-free motoring, that's Toyota-level reliability from an M-car according to me.

They seem pretty reliable from what I've read/heard, as long as you not modding them. Which is very tempting given the type of power these make with bolt ons and tune.

Would get a decent warranty and take it from there. Crank hub is good to do but dependent on the way you plan to drive the car generally, how long you plan to keep it and if you going to mod it.

As long as the slush fund is there, it's a solid car to get at the price you paying for them (circa R600k)

I went and saw both of them.
The M3 was sold by the time i went there. Both their M3 and M4 was exceptionally clean.
1st prize for me is a M3 given the fact that i have a 6 year old and this will be the wifes daily.

Engine wont be modded, just esthetics.

I also test drove an RS3, that launch is something else but in my opinion it looks too similar to an S3 and a S3 looks too similar to a A3 with a S-line kit, plus im not an Audi person.

Thanks for the info gents. Much appreciated
