One month as a BMW owner

Hi all, thought I would give an update on my first month as a bmw owner.
I bought a e90 320d just before the December holidays. The car has a lot of kms, 222000 now, but I got it at a low enough price and expected to spend a bit more to get it in top shape again. My main concerns were mechanical, which so far, has cost me the least.

Things I have done:

The front bumper was torn in half, the previous owner drove onto a pavement that was too high and then reversed off, which tore the bumper. This has been fixed.

The covering on the interior panels wass cracked and coming off. It seems this is common on bmw's. I had the panels removed and resprayed.

I have fitted tyres all round, Bridgestone Potenza.

Things I need to do:

The rims are losing paint and needs some attention

There are some scratches on the paint, non of them are too deep though

The BMW logo on the bottom has sun damage, this is my pride and joy so it needs to be replaced

All in all, I am super happy with the car! I expected to do some work, but nothing comes close to the smile I get when I drive it! Im not even going to start with the fuel efficiency! :praise:

Awesome news. You have the makings of a fanatic. Good to see people are not scared to take an older car and make her perfect again.

Enjoy her!

Welcome to the forum, and well done so far in getting your car back into good shape! It shocks me when I see how some people allow their cars to get into various states of disrepair! Awesome colour BTW!

Welcome to the forum.

Would have love to see some before pics. Your rims dont look to be losing paint, that looks like brake dust caked on it. Have a look and chat to the detailers we have on the forum. They will be able to assist in choosing a good product to remove the baked in dirt.

I specifically use autoglym, but theres lots of options.

Good on you for restoring the damaged bits and making her happy again. I encountered the same issues with the interior when I got mine. Seems the interior on the E90 is alot weaker than the other models.
I had mine sprayed in my factory as I work for a panel beater and has not worn out yet since I did it 2 years ago.

Post some pics of the exterior....

Ok I will do that, thanks for the advice!

What did you use to respray the interior trim?

I gave it in at Vaal Triangle Auto Bumper.
The total cost was R2900, this include all 4 the door panel handles, the front and rear console as well as that cupholder part in the arm rest.

The owner said that they used a silicone based spray on the interior of these models, and due to the hot weather we have here in SA the paint keeps on expanding and shrinking and become weak, so the slightest touch makes them peel.

Thanks, so it was normal spray paint.
