ML got a bit of love recently. Replaced the gearbox selector shaft seal and electrical plug connector as they were both leaking. The selector shaft seal was a real ballache as the propshaft had to be removed which means the crossmember had to come out. The only remaining leaks are engine oil from the rear main seal and the oil cooler. I will do an "ANC" by installing a sump guard which will disguise these leaks and I shall declare them as fixed.
Flushed the brake fluid which was surprisingly clear - another sign that this thing was well looked after
Replaced the offending O2 sensor - hopefully no more lights on the dash
New windscreen washer bottle
Replaced the horrible aero wipers with OEM Mercedes wipers with new blades - Yes, I have a bit of a wiper problem as well.
Removed the torsion arms to find a failed and failing bushing as
@tamgoem said it would be - he loves being right😅
Replaced those and indexed the torsion arms by one tooth to raise the front a bit more. 30mm rear wheel spacers and 20mm front wheel spacers to fix the anorexic stance. The W163 suspension is so weirdly designed - if you lift it, you get negative camber and much smaller track width. Conversely, when you lower/load it, you get negative camber and a wider track width. Exactly the opposite of what you want from suspension.
Had to test if there was any rubbage
Thankfully none due to the ridiculously tiny wheel travel
Im loving the ML, it straddles the fence between comical and obnoxious. It makes the L322 look small when they are parked side by side
