Wow, congratulations on an awesome garage!

I eagerly look forward to more pics of the E39s in 2 years time, the M5 especially...there should be a proper revival thread of that car please
master I shall not fail you! thanks man, I will try by all means to document as I work through the car.

attached a few more images of the M5, those 20 inch rims gotta go!! got style 65's OEM but the colour is wrong, need black shadow chrome. The engine is looking way better now, after cleaning rats nests poop from intakes and all other corners, luckily they didn't get inside the car or eat any of the wires so I am thankful!!.. biggest engine issues is a stripped sump bolt which I still need to get sorted out. it leaks but not badly. after mechanicals it will be interior, the worst bit is the titanium trim which has seen better days and getting it from bmw is expensive, am currently toying with the idea of getting it carbon fiber reskinned or just vinyl wrapping it.. Im trying to keep car OEM as possible. the seat will need some rejuvenated, I was thinking of leatherique. I don't want to recover them, would rather have some imperfections than new seats to be honest. I have a BlueBus on order for the radio. Also need side sills, windscreen, driver door window regulator and and and.. but I am loving this.. I'm a late 80's kid so I vividly remember this car being launch with that speed car advert. There is also something about fulfilling a childhood dream. Hopefully next time I post the car will be up and running...

Those 20s are horrible!

Regarding the rattle on startup, I am not the expert, but it could be the chain tensioner or vanos. I would very strongly recommend you get the timing chain guides done. I have seen too many M5s with bent valves because of a R1500 timing chain guide.

As a rule of thumb, every 10 years or 200,000km

I changed the tensioner, but haven't driven the car for more than 100km with the new tensioner, yeah I need to do the timing chain guides asap. my skill levels aren't at that level yet so will need to take it to an expert before I make engine go BOOM!

greetings fanatics... so an update on garage and in between. Gone is the 530i and the e36 325i. arrived is a e46 330d. after selling the 530i and the 325 I needed a run around because lets be honest the M2C isn't the best daily car. Hit a luck with a one owner e46 330d individual. super clean car from Cpt. sealed the deal car unseen and drove up from Cpt to Pta with no issues. she is undergoing surgery at tune tech because I know very little about diesels but she drove beautifully from Cpt but giving a proper shakedown.. The E39 M5.. the e39.. so been wrenching over past couple of months and the engine is running ace, besides the cold start rattle. replaced waterpump, thermostat, temp sensor, all fluids and belts... had some tapet rattle but after. 2 oil flushes and a descent drive that went away. new disc and pads all round. Tackling the shocks next. managed to get OEM struts and all accompanying hardware and getting that sorted this coming week. this is where my skill set ends and getting it done professionally. under tray , fogs, pork shops and headlight washes need addressing and the dreaded pixel on the cluster. its been a fun journey.. next I tackle the inside. seats need a rejuvenation. I am thinking of getting E38 comfort seats and wrapping those in cinnamon leather and keeping originals. I love the red and black set up. the trim needs addressing and the radio isn't working. thinking of doing bluebus and keeping it original with the bluetooth functionality. aiming, ( fingers crossed) to have her on the road properly in December for a drive to KZN. again I apologise for lack of documentation skills but here are some pics... oh got the rims refinished in original colour, not 100% but 95% there. couldn't find Michellins PS tires so went with bridgetstone sport. will get spaces in time. I got other issues to tackle

Thank you sir... yeah its a really dope car. moving from an e36 with its crap interior build quality this is impressive especially for daily duties and I am loving the fuel consumption.. I will do so... M5 went in for shocks.. lol its laughable the state they were in.. basically just running on springs. will upload a video of them tomorrow

This is a crime scene. Why was the 530 sold without posting on the forum first? Despicable!

Congrats on the 330d, nice find, beautiful car! Good progress on the M5 as well, keep it going

Thank you sir on the 330d I am enjoying her so far. Came back from Tune tech and she running well, couple of things to address.

another random update. Mechanically she is 90% there. front suspension done, control arms, shocks, tie rods, sway bar links, engine mounts, gearbox mounts, power steerings lines. She needs rear suspension, rear brakes ( still trying to stomach the R9k per rotor charge from BMW). decided to do the free stuff. stripped interior which was disgusting. When I got it I thought the leather needed changing but with a proper clean ( 3 times and 3 bottles of Gyeon leather clean they came back to life). Fixed the LED in cluster but it was still dim. changed bulbs and tested outside the car and all was well. In the car they are still dim. while cleaning interior found water in the connectors under the seat ( car sat for 8 years under a tree was only a matter of time) so need to address that. The paint works isn't the best but managed to make it acceptable with some Autoglym polish). next need to tackle above mention rear suspension and brakes and source a new front bumper and get front end repainted ( bonnet is horribly painted and bubbling ). But she pulls like a train!! In my mind I don't want to make it too perfect to a point I end up not driving her like she deserves. its getting her to a standard I can accept and drive it.. she is on 239k km.

Have you reached out to Peter on the forum that is building a m5 wagon? Maybe AdiS has parts that didn't go with the sale of his M5

another big thing! the chain rattle is still there..that needs addressing asap! the lifter tick is gone after some descent km after sitting for that long. I have done 2 oil changes in 1000km after car sat for 8 years I wanted to cycle the oil. did 600km and flushed it out, was nasty!! I thought it necessary. all other fluids changed. gearbox, coolant, diff oil, power steering...
