Hi all, glad to be part of the forum!

I'm a proud new owner of an '07 E92 335i.

My father's F10 535d got my attention and a drive in a G30 M5 comp sealed the deal for me.

I understand the N54 is a delicate engine which requires attention to detail in the maintenance department.

I'm here to learn and hopefully help some day.

Cheers!

Welcome, I have same which I bought new in 2007. Read bmwtuning.co for relevant info on the N54 engine. I am strict with oil changes either 10K km or 1 year even when car was in Motorplan.
My experience is that the engine is solid but peripherals need to be managed. Replaced actuators, HPFP, water pump recently, charge pipe (preventative), walnut carbon cleaning(preventative), changed control arms(preventative), engine mountings(preventative) and shocks over the past 16 years. Also changed diff and gearbox oils as part of maintenance.
upgraded to the BMW PPK1 software to increase power to 240kw and added down pipe last year.
Amazing car that I would not change. Investigated adding the Quaife LSD but requires engineering mods which concern me, otherwise a keeper.
Do not be put off the threat of high maintenance if you keep the car well maintained. Enjoy this unique car that after 16 years still excites me every time I fire it up,!

Thanks Preggie.

I'm keen on taking good care of this car since it's my first performance oriented vehicle. I'm not going to go overboard with power mods yet. I'd like to take my time and uprate all the supporting mods and preventative parts first.

Car came with some upgraded parts like charge pipe, blow off valve, down pipes, refurbished turbos, larger intercooler and new rubber vacuum pipes. Car also has an MHD s1+ but I'd like to remove that and go back to stock. Am also not such a big fan of the blow off valve noises mine makes, so will also look into going back to stock diverter valves and different charge pipe, but at a later stage.

Currently I'm looking into doing the oil filter housing gasket and oil cooler gasket kit, new pulleys, tensioner and belt and making sure crank seal is covered up.

Do you buy your own parts and DIY these maintenance items? If so, where do you purchase your parts from? I'm looking at FCP Euro, but if I can find a local supplier I'd rather support local.

Cheers!

Hi,
Forgot to mention that I replaced the oil filter gasket as well as pulleys. Except for the downpipe, shocks and charge pipe only OEM from BMW. Have a great relationship with the SMG Tygervalley team and get great prices. Another important point is making sure that the alignment is done by BMW. Aftermarket guys generally clueless!

Yea, I believe it's the same car. Good spot there! Touch up job in the left rear gave it away.

Wow.. Who would have thought 👊🏽! Served me well for 5 years, wasn't too bad with consumption either since it's manual..

Many happy returns on mileage..
