We attended an event in Parys this weekend and decided to go with 5er ,which was it's first longer trip since having the map done in October.

We managed 5.1l/100 there when mostly sticking to the speed limit, and a combined average of 5.5l/100 for the entire return trip after doing touristy things in town and some rather spirited driving on the way back .It is absolutely remarkable for such a big vehicle and just proves how good/healthy the map is.

The car is now on 113000km

My wife got into a minor fender bender this morning where a young driver decided to hit reverse when the traffic light struck yellow ,whilst already parked in the intersection.

Luckily the damage is minor and we should have it fixed in no time.

EDIT:I Probably should have blocked the guy's face in the photo....

Schalk I thought you did this when you did the tune. Anyway hows the sound and power difference
No I did only the SW initially ,but the downpipe was on the shopping list all along. The car sounds insane when pressing the loud pedal, but when driving normally it sounds very much the same as before, maybe a slight bit louder. It feels likethe turbo spools a bit earlier,so the power feels like it comes in earlier, but that could just be placebo too.

Overall I am very happy with the way the car sounds/runs now.

I will take a vid and post it here over the weekend.

I suspect that it is smoking a bit more after the DP,but I haven't personally driven it much since the DP and the bit that I did was mostly fairly close to WOT ,so it should smoke a fair amount then. I wil revert after driving it a bit over the weekend

Thanks a lot bud.I am well chuffed with the car and really happy with my purchase. I think the 520d is also an amazing car,the 20d has always been such a good allrounder and the fact that they are easier to come by means one is more likely to get a good deal on one.
Hi @Schalk94, I finally did it. Bought a white 2018 G30 530d with 60000km on the clock back in March this year. It was clean with Full Service history from BMW, a real unicorn at the time. Phenomenal and exciting car, I am content, a childhood dream fulfilled. For some reason I cannot get it below 7.1L/100km even on EcoPro mode. First service is now due. Would appreciate some maintenance tips from you brother. I am not interested in any mods for now other than a black trim body kit later on.

Hi bud, congrats on an amazing car and may it give you years of trouble free fun.

With my wife's daily commute ,the car sits in the 8's(l/100) ,but she only does in town driving in and around Centurion,so it definitely doesn't do the consumption any favours as it is a lot of car to move from robot to robot. That figure drops very quickly when cruising on the highway only.

Is your 7.1l/100 with mixed driving or purely highway consumption? If the 7.1l/100 is a combined figure for mixed highway/city,I would say you are doing very well already.

With regards to maintenance I would look at removing the catalytic convertor, disabling the EGR and getting the box serviced (at around 90 000km
),apart from that, regular servicing should be all that's needed.

Thanks brother,
My wife takes it more often on a 40km return trip weekday commute as well, I have to beg for it back once a week lol. We get 7.2L/KM throughout regardless. Work wise I would cover a 140km return trip between PTA and JHB to run it well once or twice a week. The 530d really hits the sweet spot between performance and economy, I am enjoying it.

I am engaging Juvan (Xcede Performance) on those key mods to improve the driving experience.
