technical N55 rear main seal leak

Hey guys, hope all is well!

So recently after I took my car to the dealer for it's annual 9000km oil service, the BMW techs and I took a look under the car and noticed there is a slight oil leak between the rear of the engine and the bell housing of the transmission. We checked the oil sump but it was still fresh ( replaced the gasket a year and a half ago). The guys at BMW took a good look and saw that it's the rear main seal. Are these common to start leaking? I guess after 14 years and 153 000 KMs anything that is made out of rubber or plastic can go at anytime. I heard these rear main seals can go when you have a faulty PCV which can make sense as mine failed not too long ago after another shop absolutely ruined mine, had to have it replaced by BMW a few months ago. Taking the car on Tuesday to have it replaced! They surprisingly gave me a very reasonable quote (R8200) as many other independent shops quoted me roughly the same price or even more than my dealer!

Just wanted to make sure if anyone else had a rear main go on their N55 before?

8k for a rear main seal replacement using bmw parts at a bmw dealer is very reasonable considering how much actually has to be removed and reffited. Me im a cheapskate and would buy the genuine seal for R2000, buy R500 beers, R500 meat and invite a few friends to my cousins workshop for a chop and dop and by way just help with this gearbox quickly

I would have loved that even more! I unfortunately don't have a friend with a lift, otherwise I have all the required tools haha!
