What an M3 this is! The LCI rear lights add that perfect subtle touch.
Beautiful ride

Hard to believe its been 18 months since the last update on the showroom threads and some of the updates will be duplicated between threads, so please bear with me.. Time really has flown by and it has been a massive period of change for me personally, from a new job, to a new home in another province and the biggest blessing of all, a new addition to the family.. Not another car, as many may think but rather a baby boy that is already taking up all my time and attention (rightly so!).

I was meant to sort out the window tint but that never happened until my trip up to Jhb (more on this later). In March 2021 I had the car over at BMW for the blower motor recall which was never performed, this was done at Supertech and took them a day to complete. Pretty uneventful few months followed as I was snowed under with work. I did manage to make a plan to attend the August Supertech event at Dezzi as an excuse to give the car a long drive as the last one was when I was bringing the car home. Happened to run into another fanatic that was also attending and we had a good few spirited runs on the way to Mexico with some high powered machinery and a few bikes, managed to do a mileage milestone on the way as well.

As I only had a chance to drive the car every so often, this eventually caused the battery to fail and I had to get a new one. Did some homework and decided OEM was the way to go after getting a decent discount from my dealer. The after sales manager offered to run a current test, fit and code the battery for me at insignificant cost so I decided to just leave the car with them in September. Fast forward to May 2022 and the car was due for an oil service and brake fluid flush, having already purchased the parts, I managed to make arrangements with my mate at BMW to have them charge me for labour only whilst they used whatever I had purchased. Popped over to Blak to have the car cleaned as I don’t let them do test drives or washes at the dealer. I also managed a whole 4k since the last service was done.

I enlisted the help of my brother to pick a car to drive up and guess which one he chose.. He argued that anyone given the choice would go for the M3, I guess I would concur if I wasn’t so attached to the 30i. We had some fun on the way up with a few good cars, which made for an interesting trip. He really enjoyed the trip up and once again commented on the amazing engine noise from the S65’s individual throttles.

With the move to the new place, I now finally had a garage for the M3 and during the renovation stage of the property, I had additional plug points installed to accommodate the trickle chargers I so desperately needed. Part of the reason the batteries in both cars kept running down, as I only drove them once or twice a month when time permitted.

In June of this year I finally got around to having the windows tinted with smash and grab, as it seems to be a Jhb thing with vagrants peering into the car and your soul. I did this at PG Glass Sandton as I specifically wanted Llumar tint due to the quality and warranty. Since the car has privacy glass on the rear, I wanted the tint to match as close to equal as possible (I find the lighter front and dark rear look off personally), I went with 15% on the front and 50% at the rear, which matches dare I say, almost perfectly. Super happy with the outcome as the car is no longer a fishbowl to drive and the privacy is awesome.

I also had a stone chip on the windscreen in my line of vision and finally had this attended to. Had it replaced with an OEM windscreen after some chats with the insurer and glad that this has been sorted out.

That brings the M3 showroom thread up to date and I would like to have the car detailed and ceramic coated in the (near) future, hopefully.. Thanks for following.

Awesome updates!

I was struggling with the battery discharge, to a point where my car started doing something so weird - The left indicator would tick faster (yes, i use the indicator) and throw a bulb error but all the indicator bulbs were flashing. I almost replaced the rear tail light thinking it was faulty (LCI Tails). Lived with it for a few weeks, eventually the battery died solid and would not start. After replacing the battery, the indicators are now working as usual - LOL. The battery charger purchased as well and i connected it directly to the battery, with the pigtail provided, easier to plug in at the boot.

Tried to update this thread last week but having issues with long updates and picture hosting, so will break these down into hopefully more manageable updates for the site.

Once again a whole year has blown past in such a short space of time - a lot has happened on the M3 in that time and I have been meaning to update the thread for some time, but then there is always one more thing to do..

I had used the car for quite a few BMWFanatics events over the past few months and always enjoyed the chance to catch up with like minded petrol-heads and the excuse to give the car some time out of the garage.

First up was the end of year Breakfast run to Harrie's in Cullinan, some awesome pics from @YasserIsmail at the Carbon Connection, thanks for the great photography!

In January this year I had a diff leak attended to at TuneTech, seals replaced and a flush with new oil. Whilst the car was there I also had them fit an aluminum under tray cover given the plastic ones seeming to break when you just look at them. Opted for the black version and glad I don't have to think about replacing those corner covers every so often.

No picture of the undertray unfortunately but they used my car as the example to show what happens to these covers -->
I then decided to do something I have been agonizing over for the longest time, changing the wheels.. There really was only one option and after making a plan with @deago.parts@abmbmw decided to bite the bullet and go for them before a suspected price increase in March..

My favourite E9x M wheel, OEM Narrow and Wide Competition Pack wheels in silver (359's).

The next event was Bimmer Nights in March, which gave me a chance to take some mates for a hoon and acquaint them with the BMW driving dynamic. Also saw a beautiful E92 Competition Pack and decided that I need to get a move on with fitting the wheels..

Next up was the Rennzport Breakfast run to the V8 Roadhouse in Harties, fitting then that I took the V8 for a jaunt. Great company and a fairly spirited drive made for a fun outing.

The new wheels proceeded to sit boxed up for months whilst I spent much of my time procuring tyres.. Again there was only one option for me and that was Michelin Pilot Super Sport's to compliment the 359's. These wheels look so good when coupled with the Michelin side wall design, a bit OTT for most but something I had convinced myself was the way forward.

I wanted tyres manufactured from this year, seeing as though the car hardly does any mileage. That proved quite a task, called over 10 suppliers and eventually @FiRi@Rennzport hooked me up and I got them from Mala's in Pretoria, at a great price. Tyres manufactured in March of this year was quite the success!

E92 M3s just keep aging so gracefully. Glad you're enjoying it to the fullest. The wheels look incredible, I'm keen to see your views on the PSS. I'm quite scared to drive on the dunlop equivalent (sp sport maxx) in even mild rain after some rather dodgy experiences when the my car was new - in my mind I'm waiting for these to finish off and then move to PS4S, happy to sacrifice some dry weather performance for more usability - so please report back on views on the tyres when it's all fitted up!
