Sorry about this Mo, glad you and the family are ok and are recovering from this trauma.

I have a very strong point about these non-insured drivers and drunk-drivers which I shall not say on this forum rather. The fact that they exist around us is a disappointment and we then have these things happen and everyone asks why. Take it easy bro

Thanks Guys, i will defo let my Insurance take care of things , my broker did ask me if i have a panel shop of choice but i dont so im hoping whoever does repair it does it properly.

Try for a BMW ARC if there are any good ones still left in your area bud. Good panel shops are few and far between.

Damn man this is so painful to see. So sorry you are going through this. I've also gone through this a couple of years ago (with an unfortunate decline from insurance) but hopefully BMW ARC sorts it out for you, the did well on my car when I was hit in the front by a person opening their door on me and damaging the front light. Whatever happens just fight to have BMW ARC do it as other places may take shortcuts.

Sorry to see this Mo, glad you are alright. I know what you're going through, unfortunate as it is. Hopefully the fix doesn't take too long and is done right first time, I agree with the recommendation to use an ARC.

1. They are lying about not being insured.
2. The extra lights indicate the dad is probably a dogshit human being.. which explains the lying.
3. They are lying about not being insured.
4. Go through your insurance and let them deal with everything. Don't communicate with them again. Your insurer will refund your excess once they claim back from the other party. They will do whatever is necessary to claim from insurance or sue them directly
5. They are lying about not being insured.
6. Insist on an ARC from your insurance co if you are not close to another recommended/trusted panel shop.

If someone with those lights on the car offered to take the car to 'their panel shop' (like really? who the F*** has a regular panel shop off the top of their head and who offers to straight up fix it without an idea of damage cost etc?) I would think this was a gigantic scam. Your car may end up in pieces (or you will be extorted into paying to get it back in said pieces months or years later if at all). There is not a single person who has those lights on their dash that should not be considered an absolute piece of human waste by default until proven otherwise (and maybe not even then LOL).

I've had this before where the guy admitted guilt and offered to pay the excess... then tried to steamroll my wife and didn't want to pay... and then became a timid little mouse after I had a go at him. Insurance company made him pay up and we ended up with no increase in premium and the excess refunded. This has been the case time and time again for us over the years. Don't have any faith in people, don't make one on one deals and don't have any sympathy. Just go ahead and get your car sorted.

So the dad owns a security company so i think this explains the lights.
I've been given the choice of Northcliff ARC or Sandton ARC, which would you guys recommend?

Northcliff worked on my F10. They are not perfect, but rectified issues very quickly and overall I was satisfied in the end. It was a very simple repair though... not sure on something more complicated. Also consider ABS (Midrand) who worked on my F90. If they are giving you those, they should be able to let you pick Midrand - not far out. I can recommend them and Elzette is a gem. I have no personal experience with Sandton ARC, but seems to be a mix of good and bad reviews.

My prior comments around the lights remain. Imagine owning a security company and having no insurance :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

No to Sandton ARC, Please request ABS Midrand. They're by far the best ARC to deal with and the quality they churn out is the best I've seen in a long time.

I agree with ABS Midrand. I had a very pleasant experience with them a few years ago with my E90. By the sound of it they still doing a good job.

Ok some good news , after some deliberation with my insurance they agreed to move the car to BMW Midrand for the repair , assessors were called before and after stripping the rear bumper at their premises and confirmed there is no chassis damage, the repair had begun last week and they are estimating a 3-4 week ETR but I'm in no hurry as long its done properly.
only thing I'm bummed about is the rear right arch and boot lid will be repaired and repainted and I'm hoping they do a solid job.
the rear bumper will be replaced with a new one and repainted, I'm usure of the diffuser as yet, I had the M performance type fitted but the car originally had the M Sport type.

Chat to your insurer about the diffuser Get prices from both BMW and Rennzport and hand it to them.
I added my m-performance / Rennzport goodies to my cover.

Did the insurer approve an original rear bumper replacement or a pirate? You would be better of repairing an original bumper than replacing with a cheaper pirate alternative.

Update on accident repair

Insurance agreed to send the car to ABS Midrand and it had been there for the last 6-7 weeks, the rear bumper, diffuser and stiffner were replaced, Brand new battery was also fitted as the old one had been damaged although i didnt see any visible damage after the accident but I appreciate a brand new one :), the boot lid was repaired , my main concern was the rear right arch as it had been slightly deformed and dented, initially they were confident they could repair it but after a few attempts they called the assessor in and asked for it to rather be replaced as they would need to use a lot of filler after straitening, this was agreed so a new rear quarter was installed and i must say they did an excellent job.

Also while the car was there i asked for a quote on PDR to pull out all the small parking lot and trolley dings which they did at an extra cost. (almost double my excess đź« )
ABS also did all checks, diagnostics and measurements on chassis and confirmed no damage at all so this did make me breath better. they even did alignment after the repair and gave me print outs of everything.
I collected the car on the 8th of August and overall I am really happy with the work done , however i picked up a few niggles and had to take it back yesterday.

2 things that are concerning me

- Getting a noise from the rear right if i go over bumps - Tech went with me on a test drive and said he will attend to it, he is assuming the metal that the battery is sitting on could be 'stretched' but said he will investigate further while on the lift
- The drivers door worked fine before and after the accident, however it doesnt lock now, the pin stays down but doesnt lock even if i try to turn it with the key , the alarm goes on as normal if the door is opened while its locked tho, I am assuming that the PDR guy probably used tools to insert between the window and door to remove dents and stuffed up the actuator, but technician doesnt think so and said he will try and repair it. he says could just be the cable that slipped but will see.

Shew the pains of going through this type of experience. I feel your pain on the waiting game. My car was 90% there when I decided it's time to replace the steering column motor which was damaged by an accident. Now I have new sounds from the suspension, getting bad shaking at just over 120km/h and there is a weird sound when I turn left under speeds of above 80km/h. I have so little trust in BMW themselves lol. So I guess a booking to Tunetech is overdue for a full system check.
