My F10 530d

Hey Fanatics,

So I’ve been a member since +/-2018 but have been mostly inactive. This is largely due to me being an extremely private person and to a degree not having much time. I purchased a 2013 F30 330d in 2018 and never did a showroom thread for it. I extended the motor plan by a year and at the end of that year realized I didn't derive much value from it. I switched over to TuneTech and it was religiously maintained by them since. Come December 2023, my wife and I decided to get a Touareg. The plan was to trade in my Fortuner for the Touareg. Somehow we settled on getting rid of the 330d. Due to my inactivity, I couldn’t advertise it on the forum for a fellow fanatic.

Wheelee came over paid my asking price and subsequently sold it within a week.

Needless to say, I missed this car immensely. As luck would have it, last week a 2017 F10 530d came up for sale.

What a nice car! The F10 shape will grown on you (if not already done), and you will see how much of a step up it is to the F30 (no more door knob rattles, flimsy plastics on seat rails, etc etc.). The interior is well put together with good materials. For some reason, the Harman Kardon sounds better in F10 than F30.

Though you might miss the short wheel base and nimbleness of the F30.

Great choice, I am still enjoying mine after a few years. Yours being the M Sport variant, should be a bit more planted than mine.

Wishing you many happy smiles and miles.

Thanks Vince I’ve always like the F10 and you are quite correct wrt build quality vs the F30. One of my biggest concerns was the ride on the 5er. Few years ago I test drove a 528i and it felt quite floaty. With the M sport suspension on the 530d, i don’t feel much of that “floatiness”.

These are very nice cars, congratulations on trading up, the F10 is one of the better 5 series designs (I'm highly biased towards the E28 🙈), but that 3.0D engine is an absolute gem! Got a really soft spot for the F10, having had 3 of them, they are properly good cars, many happy miles ahead for you!

You found a unicorn, congrats! Hard to find low mileage, specced and neat examples of the 530d now.

Great buy. The 5 will grow onto you. It drives much better, quieter and smoother in every situation over the F30.
Also the build quality seems to be better. In particular, you will enjoy highway driving and road manners at higher speeds. Those who know see the chrome kidney grills in their rearview mirror and move out of the way, Enjoy it and remember to wait until you pass those Woodmead cameras lol:)

Thanks all. Would like to get her detailed soon and fit a boot spoiler. Still deciding on the black dual slat grille and black mirror caps.
