So here, eventually, are some ( actually quite a lot ) of pics of my baby, my 1976 BMW 530MLE. My first car, back in the eighties, was a 1975 BMW 520A, which led to a love affair with e12's. My dream back then was to own an MLE, and it took five years to find this one. Bought on 18 November 1993, I became her third owner. Over the years she has essentially been a garage queen, coming out on weekends for a blast, or attending the odd car show. I have kept her original, see my thread "1976 BMW 530MLE Official BMW Pics" for a visual comparison. She is serviced and maintained using only original BMW parts, and is thus quite a healthy old girl.

A bit of history. She is number 70 of 218 manufactured and homologated for local saloon car racing. The motor is a factory modified three litre straight six ( M30 ) that pushes out 147kw, gets to about 210km/h, and does 0-100 in 9.3 seconds. She has a limited slip diff and a 5 speed Getrag dogleg box. Most of the body is drilled for lightness, and she wears fibreglass front and rear spoilers to aid her aerodynamically. The interior has Scheel bucket seats, and a BMW Motorsport steering wheel. These cars are widely regarded to be the first production BMW M saloons, and the forerunner to the M5. She is one of only a few remaining in existence. Hope you guys enjoy :)

Yes, was great to get all the little things that usually go walkies with a second hand car. Besides the books, the owner also had the glovebox torch, tools, and what appears to be the original spare tyre! It's always a massive benefit when buying from a fastidious owner. Notice that there was no specific to 530MLE book available for these cars, they just used the standard e12 one.

@ Sankekur - Thanks man, I'll PM you my address, and you can pop the bill in the post :)

@ Raybimmer - You just need to be a little obsessed, or is that posessed, LOL! Have spent many Saturdays over the years polishing the engine bay. I don't recommend this behaviour, it tends to drive one crazy.

Hey Sith. That is a Stunning Classic. Did you perhaps let her out on the last breakfast, hooked up at Sea Point?

If that was the Exclusively M breakfast run, then yes, I did. Got my very nervous girlfriend to drive her, while I relaxed in the M5 :) Happy you like her...the car, that is, LOL!
