My 320d Story

I'm new here, just joined today. But it's nice to see someone else enjoy their 320d as much as I do. I got the car two months ago and since then have only had it serviced and done a cat delete. I need to do all the things you've done, like the bumper respray and detailing, how much did the whole bunch cost you?

Your car is looking insane, hope I can get mine this clean.

Welcome buddy. All in, cosmetics incl. kidney grills, spoiler and splitter and rear diffuser wraps costed about 5k. Bumper respray was around 4k and then the full detail about 1k. So all in you're looking at around 10k. Worth it IMO. Car gets lots of attention after all the work done :smilebounce:

So its been a while since I last updated this thread and since its been a year of ownership since I got my 320d I thought I Could give some insight as to ownership experience.

In a nutshell, this has to be one of the most reliable vehicles ever made. I've also got a Toyota Tazz which shares driving equally with my 320d and in the past year Its the BMW which has proven more reliable

Obviously it is more costly to service the 320d compared to the tazz but in terms of maintenance needed in the past year, I actually had more work done on my tazz in the past year :biglol:

My car has just had its 128k km service and it cost me around 2k. All that was needed was an oil change and wipers. In the past year I've done three trips to Langebaan and one to Hermanus and this car hasn't missed a beat. I was really expecting more to be doing since the roads going to Langebaan were quite rough.

The only big maintenance items done was last year when the breaks were done front and rear as well as the front control arm bushes and the gearbox service at ZF. That's it. I also had a some jerky gear-changes taken care of with an adaptation reset.

I should point out that for all those wishing to take out a warranty on their 320d's that NONE of the maintenance I did on the car in the past year would've been paid for under warranty. I think this is one of the few BMW's you can realistically run without a warranty in place.

Maintenance Done so far in the past year aside from oil changes:
  • Brake pads all round
  • Front control arm bushes
  • Rear disks
  • Aircon Regas
  • New Wipers
  • Brake, Steering and coolant flush
  • Air, diesel, micro filter changes

I was planning to go full software and decat with ATM this month but I have the chance to go and watch United vs Arsenal in September soooo my money is going that route :fencelook: And it wouldn't hurt to save till next year to have software done.

Appearance wise the car is how I always wanted it to look. Aggressive without being overdone. I also had a full detail (Clay, polish, wax and seal) done at on the car recently by RRR Styling along with my cousins who also got their new babies in the last few months (n54 135i and RunX TRD).

Naturally the first thing we did was go for a photo shoot :smilebounce:
