Another reason is you’re probably driving it before reaches optimal temp. Maybe use a more “basic” car for trips less than 5-10min?

You need to break it in.
Diesel vehicles need at least 2,000km per month :)
Break in a 4year old car that has 44k km 🙃

I know a good few people travelling sub-10km a day who's diesels are not returning 15l per 100km - this consumption is NUTS on a modern day diesel.

Well not much to update here..

Almost 3 months of ownership and we've (wife and I) covered 2200km..

The car has consumed diesel like a junkie addicted to crack.. I hope you're sitting down.. I take no responsibility if you fall of your chair..
2200km and 349lt of diesel.. Yes.. You read that correctly :ROFLMAO:

Now you making me worried. Decided to get something bigger for the wife swapped out the F25 x3 20d for Audi Q7 45tdi. Have been using the car for daily school runs for a week now so no real feel for consumption yet.

Hi bud. How has the Q5 been treating you? Has consumption stabilized?

Reason I ask is my cousin is due for a new vehicle soon and after 2 x G01 20d's is considering trying a different brand that can offer the same power, consumption, comfort and handling.

The GLC 220d and the Q5 TDi is on the list.

Hey buddy

I'm loving the Q5, the acceleration off the line feels very much quicker than my F25 20d, I actually want to line it up against one for a proper comparison. Reaching "cruising" speeds on the highway doesn't take much effort, it reaches those higher digits with ease. (I have a pic which I downloaded from the internet, will post it below).
I haven't had any major issues with the car with the exception of squeaky brakes. Audi replaced the rear discs and pads without a fuss. The front brakes seem to be feeling left-out as they have also started squeaking like a prostitute who regrets going home with Shaquille O'Neal.
A few months ago I coded-in the SQ5 virtual cockpit, looks quite cool and sporty.

Consumption seems to have improved, but not drastically, this might be due to the fact that I have roof racks + plus a bicycle rack on top of that.
Lets not forget that my wife does +/- 20km a day, which is about 10 short trips to school and the Padel courts.

It might be a bit difficult for your cousin to move from a G01 (LCi?) to a Q5 as it will probably take him some time to adjust from from the ZF8 to the STronic box. It might help if he can spend a few hours in a Q5 to get a proper feel of it.

Did my first long-distance trip with the Q5 yesterday (780km round-trip).

I am totally impressed with the way this little 2.0L pulls from 140km/h all the way to "please don't lock me up officer" speeds. Where the F25 felt like it was running out of steam, the Q5 just wants to run. Fuel averaged around 8.2L while carrying 3 adults and my right foot planted for most of the trip.

The 20" Goodyear Excellence tyres (Non-RFTs) were absolutely silent and performed quite well.

Google Maps on my virtual cockpit. Excuse the multiple homicides on my windscreen.

One thing Audi did right was getting Google maps to come through on virtual cockpit. Pity BMW doesn't have the functionality with CarPlay that it does with the stock Nav where it displays on HUD and the live cockpit.

Definitely drink diesel, the wife has the 2020 40 TDI, this thing is thirsty. I just don’t think the engine to weight ratio works honestly. But what do I know. Also the damn thing has electronic issues on the Quattro module, every time before it’s time for a service it’s start to be clunky… but great comfort. 😏

Not much to update here..
Relationship status changed to Love/Hate-ish, more love of course.

Munching up the miles, currently on 64xxx km, Motorplan extension due in November with pricing not too bad.

I am seriously impressed at how this puny 2L performs on the open road. I used the car on a quick day trip last week, the car was loaded with 5 adult males and about 100Kg of stuff in the boot. It was eating up the hills at x70km/h with ease. I don't remember my F25 20d being this plucky.

Anyone with a stock G01 20d in Durban want to humble me? Hit me up
