Congratulations and enjoy it..pls write some reviews about this awesome purchase..
Thanks bud. It's been nearly a month of ownership and brings me smiles on every start up. I'll certainly share a more detailed review after spending more time in it and covering more miles

After five months of ownership I thought I'd give a small update and review of my experience thus far. Enough has been said on various forums on the internet regarding this peach of an engine. Owning one I can confirm that the cold start every morning of the B58 with the M-performance exhaust will put a smile on your face every time. The power delivery is as linear and smooth as it gets. It shifts so smoothly around the city and while cruising on the highway, yet turns into an absolute beast in Sport and Sport+ under heavier throttle. The car went it for its regular brake service since taking ownership and no issues to report after covering about 4500 kms.

Without making this a 30d vs 40i topic, perhaps I can also share a quick comparison since owning both back to back. I often see the question popping up more especially on the economy front.

I averaged 7l/100kms with mixed driving habits in the 30d. 9l/100 was easily achievable in city driving and 5.5l/100 on the highway if driven sensibly.

With the 40i I'm averaging 10l/100km in similar conditions which is not bad considering it is a 3L petrol engine. 7-8l/100km is easily achievable on the freeway however it can be thirsty in the city 11-12l/100km, and even heavier if thrashed around.

Another point worth mentioning is the 30d felt much heavier up front, especially when steering around corners. All in all the only benefit to the 30d is the economy, for everything else I'd choose the 40i every time.

Update - new wheels fitted.

I came across a set of OEM 437m rims for sale. Two of them had slight curb rash and they were painted bronze... Nevertheless the price I negotiated gave me enough room to have them refurbished. Im definitely changing the color but thought I'd rock them for a little bit before I do the refurb.

I'm still running the tyres taken off the 442s - 225/40/19 in the front and 255/35/19 at the rears. I think this is a stretch but the tyre shop said it should be fine? Tyres still have about 80% life so I didn't want to change them.

Yes, they were on a 435i, seems like you know every BMW in the country . The guy switched to a set of original Apex wheels.

:ROFLMAO:not really - I had messaged him for the Mperformance steering trim:censored:

Re. the tyres - that is maximum stretch - and not recommend for "spirited" driving. Many posts on international forums re the use of 225 up front - with many stating they experienced leaks on the sidewall.

I would recommend selling the set of tyres and going with atleast 235 front and 265 rear(y)

Update: I had the 437m wheels refurbished. I decided to try something a little different - gloss black with a satin black face on the area that usually has the diamond finish.

It's really difficult to capture the differentiation of the two black tones in pictures (also it looks full satin black a day after washing ) but I'm very happy with the finish and it has to be seen in person when it's clean to really be appreciated.

While at it, I decided to get the brake calipers painted in blue.

Here are a few pics:

Looks good, especially with the calipers.

Where did you have the calipers done?

Update: changed the badges to the heritage ones. I managed to get OEM badges for the bonnet and bootlid, unfortunately the wheel center caps do not come in OEM for F series vehicles so I got a set of replicas.

I was also intending to spray the 340i badge in black but saw the black G-series badge and thought it looked good overall on the car with the black wheels (I know, don't shoot me down for the "M" badge )..

The side pic shows the satin and gloss black finish differentiation on the wheels much better in this photo than the previous ones I uploaded.

Some pics from last weekend:

And so the car is officially out of its 5 year warranty and I decided not to extend it with BMW.

That means I was finally able to fit some hardware I bought from fellow Fanatics: FTP chargepipe, intake pipe, drop in BMC filter and the TU hpfp. I did some diy and decided to add some color to the engine bay by spraying the chargepipe and intake pipes. Pics attached.

In addition, I ordered a new Rogue Performance downpipe. It sounds amazing with just the dp and m performance exhaust!

Off course I had to do software afterwards, and after giving it some thought I went with the MHD route and loaded the stage 2 file. I have also done the XHP stage 3 tcu flash.

All of this was done with the new MHD universal wi-fi adapter. It is a great tool thats lightning fast and so convenient.

I can definitely feel a significant bump in power and its going to keep me happy for a while. Later on I would like to do a custom tune and try some ethanol blends.
