Hi everyone, been lurking around the forums since I was 14 and now finally the time has come.
Bit of a backstory on me and this passion(it's a long one feel free to skip). My love for BMW has been there since i could form coherent thoughts, thanks to my dad. My first memory was of him arguing with my gran who despised his use of an e93 335i as a family car while loading me in the back. As I grew up the love became stronger and so did the level of cars, I was fortunate enough to experience. At 11 I had the chance to blast an F90 M5 down the long straight at Gerotek and of course I took it, got up to 240 before my dad told me to cool it. My love has always been with the late e-gen (think e9x, e8x and e6x LCI's), f-gen cars and early g-gen cars (think g11 and g30 pre LCI), probably about growing up with them, I guess. And now finally being able to drive my own f-gen BMW is like a dream come true. The past few years I have really been getting into the small details of these cars like technical and mechanical aspects which has made the passion grow even stronger, along with this has come the unusual end all, be all dream car of an F10 53xd, yes, you read that right. I would take an F10 535d before I'd take a Ferrari if I could choose one for free. Had a chance in December to buy an early F10 530d in very good nick for an excellent price however circumstances weren't in my favor then
.
Now on to the car. It's a 2019 120i Msport Shadow Edition, ~150k kms, nicely specced (h/k, auto high beams, reverse cam and best of all, parking assist, a VERY rare option for an f20) and in rather good condition (would have been exceedingly good if not for the exterior). Have a few things on my list for this car soon, namely: gearbox service at ZF when I get the chance to go through to JHB, cooling system refresh, fix the horrendous handbrake cable sound and get some new oem mirror caps as these are very badly stone chipped. Had the chance to get a nice F40 118i but why get that when it's not only FWD but also more expensive. Would love to add photos but it doesn't work with my links so photos will come soonTM.
