Hi all,
Many BMWs have oil filter housings, which then take the cartridge oil filter element. Some of these housing lids have a nut on the top, making it easy to open if you have a big enough socket (30mm, 36mm etc.). If they don't have this nut, then it needs to be opened with a traditional oil filter strap-type of wrench, or a specialised cup wrench.
King Tony offer a wide range of cup wrenches (32 actually) in different sizes (both diameter and number of flutes / flattened edges on the outer rim). Also suitable for other Manufacturers who use the same design for the oil filter housing (Volvo comes to mind).
Personally, I've got the 86mm, 16 flute version, and can confirm that this fits N52 and N55 engines (I'm sure it fits others as well). I've got a couple of these in stock at the moment.
