Hi everyone,

New to the BMWFanatics forum, have however read this forum for years if and when I needed some advice etc.

I recently (July last year) bought a ’16 BMW 220d M Sport and had her serviced at BMW last week Friday. The mileage is currently at 137K and I was wondering what preventative measures I could take, like perhaps looking into servicing the injectors as well. I bought her on 122K kms and no hassles whatsoever, driven Pretoria to Cape Town twice and no errors on the dash or iDrive 🙌.

There’s nothing wrong with her she had her Vehicle Check done too at last Friday’s service and the usual fuel filter, oil change etc. was done (minor service) she drives like an absolute dream.

Just wondered if anyone who owns the same or similar 2.0L Diesel have taken any extra measurements as precautionary steps.

Any advice will be appreciated, even suggestions as to have her looked at else where to make sure.

Also how do I add a picture to this type of message ? The image icon only accepts URLs 🙊

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

At high level:

1. Oil Service every 10,000km.
2. ZF gearbox service, if not already done. BMW do not have this scheduled, so you need to go aftermarket.
3. Disable the auto stop start entirely (coding) or just make sure to turn it off every time.
4. Avoid short trips or remove the DPF and get it coded accordingly.
5. At your car's age and mileage, the suspension components may start needing attention in the next 10,000km. Budget accordingly.
6. Other more mechanically astute forum members can advise on other technical items to alter/upgrade to get the best longevity out of this car.
