General DIY question on preferred brands

Hi guys

I have a general question on what are your preferred brands when it comes to doing some basic DIY to/on your baby?

Like what is your preferred air filter brand, oil brand etc. etc.
(I'm looking at replacing the air filter as the current one is filthy and when I bought the car all I got was a oil change)
- Do most of you guys use the GUD filters, or have a preferred brand?
and how to you wash your car with the on going water crisis in CT?

I am admittedly stingy with my money, so I will have shower on a Saturday morning, and use the water caught in a bucket to wash my car and spoil her with some nice smelly goodies inside and a leather treatment for the wipe down.

Filters - OEM
Oil - Shell or Liquimoly
All other lubricants, cleaning stuff - Liquimoly

Thanks tman.
where would you buy your air filter from?
Or should I ask if we have a CT supplier on the group I can support?

I generally buy filter from BMW. They are competitively priced. Goldwagen stocks OEM parts.

For oil I use BMW, Shell and Castrol - full synthetic 5w30.

I buy all my filters from Midas(honestly can't even remember the oil filter brand, orange and black box), the oil I use shell hx7 10w40, castrol fluids for the rest.

Spares I get from Sean at Axis.

If you going to DIY oil changes I advise you get an oil catch can. Midas sells an 8l one (big blue one) which by some miracle holds about 11l( must be sending some of the oil to a parallel universe ). Builders warehouse also stock oil catch cans.
