The broken engine mount will be repaired with silicone and some of the oil I took out the engine.

These particular bearings look in very good condition.
I shall post pics of the others as I remove them.

I have done rods 8-4-7-3 till now.

All bearings looked as though they had another 70000Kms plus on them (at a guess)
This is by far the best condition bearings I have seen.
It shall be interesting to see what the other 4 rods look like.

As expected given the condition of the bearings I removed the rest were in the same condition.
A testament to previous ownership that would be categorised as "genteel" rather than "Neanderthal"
Shiraz take a bow!

Great news, this car is wicked! Coming along so well with such great news on the previous ownership as well. People can claim good ownership but when the proof is in the bearings (pudding) it is so much better.

So now, for the newbie questions from me @Peter@AEW, with those bearings looking like they are in such good condition...does this mean that this M3 was driven very lightly or gently...with warm up procedures...oil changes all in check?

Or what contributes to it being in such good condition/and the opposite?

In answer to your questions I would propose that the engine was not driven cold and that oil changes were regular and not as per BMW intervals.

I imagine that this engine was never driven under high load and low revs conditions either.

Given how this engine is I would buy a car from the previous owner no questions.

I would say the first owner also requires a pat on the back. He did 90% of the mileage and while it was under plan he went the extra mile and did the right things.

The bearings look to be in great condition! Well done!
