F25 X3 purchase - Which ones to look at

Morning everyone!

I am looking to get a daily for the SO, the requirement is :
- Relatively light on fuel (7-8l/100km in town)
- Will be used on some long trips( if Inlaws are coming), otherwise the M4 will be used.
- will be the daily for the wife (+/- 40 kms return, west rand to Rosebank)- no highway

cars that I am looking at
330d F30 (so hard or out of budget)
320d f30
x3 2.0d or 3.0d

The question would be, would you go for the F25 x3 3.0D pre lci - a lot with higher mileage or a LCI 2.0D with lower mileage and both within budget (R150k- R230k)

Hi bud

Based on your consumption requirement, the LCi 20d will be a better option.

In that price range you will only really find a decent 20D, and even pre lci i say. A clean one holds value like crazy and sell for a premium.
A clean 30D in that price range i think you will have look for like a year (not joking) for a clean well looked after one.

Go 20D and remap it, so it will then be frugal but still safe to overtake at any speed and fun too.

Non negotiable i would say are xenons.
If you find with Hifi sound or even better Harman kardon sound, buy it! The stock base sound system is terrible.

Thank you. I'm shocked that I am finding LCI 2.0D over 200,000kms. There is one with under 130 000kms, Msport with Xenons- got the Vin, will do some reach now.

For a clean low milleage LCI you need to look at over 260k

Thanks.

The other option would be a Merc GLC 220d, but I really don't like the interior, and will be priced more.

Stay away from the Merc diesels - they can be a hit and a miss.

Find the lowest mileage, cleanest F25 20d you can, even if it is pre-LCi.

As FILV, xenon lights are a must. I would also make sure if has the USB/Bluetooth option as my 30d does not have this and it is annoying.

I just had a look at whats out there with a max budget of 250k... wow
There is not a single F25 sub 250k that i would say is worth going to look at.

This one seems ok, slightly over budget.

May i suggest this? A tad bigger but seems in very good Nic, plus a silky smooth 3.0D
Would you say over 150 000kms is a no go?

I definitely gona go for the 2.0D

The X5's are brilliant but much higher running cost than the F25 in terms of tyres and parts.

Definitely something wrong with this one to be so cheap.

Give it a miss.

Also please remember once you have found a potential vesicle to email Cosiman from our forum to do a check on the vehicle to make sure all checks out.

Decent looking cars i found:

E84's could also be worth looking at.
Their pro's are if you got a 2013 + they have the updated 8 speed gearbox form the F series cars. They also still have the hydraulic steering from the E series so the steering is direct and engaging.
Cons - E series dashboard, especially if you dont get one with climate control.

High mileage F series X1:

The answer to everything on this forum these days is-X3 2.0d....

So look no further :ROFLMAO:
Hi,

does look like the way to go, dont need the power on the x3, so 2.0D is perfect.

so the search now begins, i got 2 to see this weekend and then take it from there

Thank you,

Not a fan of the x1, really don't like the interior.
Do I pm Cosiman or is there an email address I send through.
