F20 Software

Hi all,

I took my car to a BMW dealership for service and asked that they check if there's a software update available, when I went to fetch my car they said an update is available but I need to pay 5K plus and that I would have to buy a module if mine gets bricked during the update.

I left and started searching online and surprisingly the site for updates says my car is up to date.

My question now is was the dealer trying to rip me off or is the site not working shap?

You are confusing a complete I-Step level update with the Head Unit update.

There dealer is spot on with their pricing and by making you known of the risks involved when updating the vehicles integration level
