E90 Drivers Door Won't Lock

Think I saw a thread on this a while ago....

So I'm using mu dad's 320d while my car is in for the new front bumper.

Noticed this morning that the driver's door won't lock with the remote.

Now this car is hardly used at all. Do you guys think it might be a lubrication issue or mechanical?? Or is this a common problem??

I had the same problem on my previous E90. Check for a blown fuse. They ended up replacing my door locks. Cause it kept blowing the fuse.

+1

common problem on the E90. Didn't happen to mine, but heard it from many others. BMW actually ran specials on the door actuators cos it was such a common item.

Door Actuator.... common probs on E90.
Happened to be, couldnt unlock passenger front door...
Replaced under MP....

I did complain to BMW SA citing this a very dangerous safety hazard... no replys!!!..:flyfun:

Yeah, it's amazing how they choose to ignore genuine potential recalls. IMO, there should be nothing as 'common problem' cos when this starts becoming a common issue, it means that the manufacturer made kak and should recall. But yeah, that would just kill their revenue so why bother about someone that will fork out money!

All manufacturers are the same.

A simple example is the final stage unit. The replacement part was completely different in appearance but Mr. Consumer had to pay the price. This was the case on the E46 By the way.

Yep - door actuators.

Had mine sorted about 2 months ago. BMW replaced both front door lock actuators under MP. The drivers door was doing exactly the same as yours.

Well, in Jan both front door locking mechanisms on mine were replaced - didn't have a problem with the locks, but there was a strange squeaking sound from the rear of the car every time I was locking the car. I have actually just gotten my car back from the agents for her last proper motorplan check since it expires middle of next month. Will post more about this once I have taken the car for a proper drive and for a few days, but so far so good!

I also had a strange squeaking sound every time I locked the car. After locking and unlocking the car a few times and listening for the location of the sound, I found that it came from the fuel filler door lock. Strangely enough it sorted itself out and I don't hear that sound anymore. I drive the LCI.

They often squeal when passing through the slot. Some lube and you're sorted. :biglol:

Really really!!!
