E46 M3 Subframe Fix Video - JEZEBEL

As most of you Fanatics know, Jezebel is not just any ordinary e46 M3. She was once supercharged. 370kw, 500hp. Using an active autowerke stage 3 supercharger on stock internals.

In 2010 she blew a bearing and an entire engine rebuild took place. Since then, she's also dropped a valve and had to have new pistons and a new Cylinder head installed. The entire Engine was rebuilt with Forged lightweight CP pistons, HPF Rods, ARP studs and head Bolts, balanced crank as well as Vac Motorsports Racing Valves. Its been a long revival process, and the latest drawback to Jezebel's return, has been the infamous e46 Subframe failure. She already has subframe plates installed back in 2010, but they didn't completely stop the problem. Due to the massive amount of power Jezebel was sending to the rear wheels, the subframe started cracking again in other weaker spots that the original repair kit did not strengthen. Another contributing factor to the subframe failing might also be that this e46 M3 sits on Bilstein PSS 10 Coilovers, which are set at their most aggressive and stiffest setting. Clearly after many track days and hard cornering, the inevitable was expected.

In this video, you see how we went the extra mile to ensure no more stress would be put on the subframe, because believe it or not, a new Vortech Supercharger is going back into Jezebel and we are looking for 570hp. She needs to be tough and rigid as hell. A custom designed rear Brace was welded into the car after new plates were also welded in to stop the cracks and repair them. This Brace will now take most of the force thrown at the rear subframe of the e46 M3 chassis.

Special thanks to Leonard at Dent Doctor for helping me with this colossal job, the workers at Dent Doctor for their experience and patience with me, to Burgy from project shift who was constantly helping me get things going and Moranor for the great idea of the rear brace.

Hey LZ. You did me the favor man.

Car feels like she can put so much more power down now. No more banging metal sounds at the back.... also, we all know Jezebel is destined to be a track car one day, so this just takes her one step closer.

At least guys know where to take their car now for the reinforcement kit installation. They can get their kits from Burgy and you guys can weld them in.

and for those serious special cases, like mine, they can have a custom brace made.

Thanks guys. Leonard went out of his way to even get the bracket laser cut to fit with my Bilstein PSS 10 Coilovers so that the fit was exact.

I just need to get hold of someone who does custom boot jobs. Like the guys who do Sound in a BMW boot, but make it look OEM and flush. Just need to modify the grey carpet material to fit around the brace so it all looks like its supposed to be there.

Probably take it to Rivonia Car and Sound. Have had good experiences with them in the past.

Nice job guys. Looking good.

So Crash how long till she is fully running again?

I can put the supercharger in right now. We test fitted it a few weeks back but I still want to install these new Forged Inconel racing valves I bought from Vac Motorsports first and also do Vanos kit that I bought from Moranor.

Peter/ A1exander wants to take the entire engine out, strip and reassemble to his spec as he doesn't trust Gtech's work from the previous engine build. Neither do I after just taking the tappet cover off, which alone showed how many mistakes they made. Over tightening bolts, using wrong size washers, crimping wires etc. A1exander has offered me a great deal on the engine reassembly. So I am tempted to do it.

I Originally said no, I don't want to do it, but there is still a small oil leak coming from somewhere and it's bothering me. So I have some decisions to make. Try fix this oil leak without stripping engine, and just do valves and Vanos, then supercharge. Or, strip entire engine, re balance crank, and rebuild to Peter's spec, ensure no oil leaks and then supercharge.

None the less, If I didn't buy the racing valves, the supercharger would be on already. LOL. The price of installing those valves alone has held me at bay for some time as I have been putting money into finishing my film rather than Jezebel and its sad really, I would have liked to have her back on her feet by now.

None the less, she is still very strong. Outran an SLK 55 AMG the other day as well as raced an e92 M3 and we were neck and neck into silly speeds. So she's no slouch, but believe me gentleman, the supercharger is coming.

I am just waiting for my this payment from my film to come through and then I'll get the valves installed and slap on the charger.

She will return.
