Hello guys, thought it now in a bit of a better state to post some pics of a 'fixher upper' ..... the car was originally a stock standard e46 320i model and new her from 'brand new' ....she belonged to a guy that bought her from new and only did like 70000k's on her, then proceeded to smash the bottom front so hard on some farm road that the sump got cracked, happily proceeded to drive without oil and 'stuck on you engine' .....these clever okes then decided to strip the motor by themselves without 'cam locking tools' and stuffed the motor up good and solid....she then stood under a cover for three years whereafter my mate got hold of the car and with help of 'EVO II' we got a 'then very hard to find 328' race motor, in actual fact one of the spare engines from R. Roets's E46 328, the time was just before the 330's were released.

The then 320, was now back on the road with a 328 motor and went very well, my mate drove it for a year or so and sold the car to another friend of his that stayed in Cape Town, that was around 110000k's.......the car came back into our circle of friends at around 190000k's around three years later, but in a hell of a state.

I always new the car but never showed much interest, as it's a 'plain specimen' untill around six months ago, when I visited the same friend and saw the car standing one side in his back yard, covered in muck!!! Asked him, why it was there and he said that the oke that bought the car from him, owed him some money and could not pay and then offered him the car back.....now with 300000k's on and IMO never been serviced for ever and a day.....it was disgracefull what came out of the sump....needless to say that she is now making VANOS noices that's not cool but will be sorted out soon.....anyway i'm sure you all are falling asleep already, but here are some pictures after lots and lots of TLC

Yep, have great difficultly understanding how people can neglect a car like this!! Glad she has found you - her future finally looks bright being in the hands of a Fanatic!

Have no idea whit what has been done to the engine :nonono: she feels strong, only for the jiggly 'VANOS' rattle when she's at idle ??

@moranor I wanted to fit a 330 intake that I have lying around but thought it to much trouble with the drive by wire on the later vehicles throttle body......have you ever come across this being done? :fencelook:

been done plenty times there is a good gain on that :) you just have to make up an adapter plate and grind off the lip on the throttle to make the throttle fit... think there is about a 10kw gain on this... if you can get a hold of a 330i intake cam you will get even more out of the intake
