A bit of progress on the touring.
Although we cut the floor from the sedan I was not entirely sure that the thickness of metal used in the sedan would be sufficient for the touring so I acquired 1.2mm steel to cut a new floor from.

A few pics of the new floor in place although not welded in yet.

That is a lot of work that goes into the floor, didn't realise the boot slam panel also needs to be removed. Good progress

excuse my ignorance Peter. Was the floor cut for exhaust/fuel tank reasons?
It was cut and modified to accommodate the right rear silencer as well as the battery.
Normal e39 cars have a spare wheel and battery location on right rear.
M5 uses a flat floor and the battery is located in a tub center of the boot.

So...
The rear floor is finished and is ready for paint.
For anyone contemplating such a conversion budget a princely amount for the boot floor conversion.
Prices have increased since I did Firi's 635 boot floor to astronomical levels.

And.....the touring is painted and I am a few randelas lighter but very pleased with the outcome.
Come January I shall start with the strip down of the interior to transfer the wiring harness from the M5 and have the roof lining done in Alcantara.
I have already had the M5 windscreen which has the Light Sensor on it fitted to the touring.

Overall I am satisfied with the outcome.

On a different note I should like to install a refined sound system to the car with a modern nav system touchscreen etc.
I am thinking of having a custom made sub woofer installation on the right rear where the battery previously resided but will need someone to fabricate a new cover to support the sub (maybe an 8" unit)

Any thoughts advise pointers etc would be most welcome as I know little about sound and what will fit in the car without it being butchered or over the top bling...
