Also look at implementing brake bias. We are looking at setting mine up like that now. I have not raced one with it yet but I was told it makes a massive difference. The guys run as much as they can on the front. I have swopped ends a few times with the back locking due to weight transfer and little weight on the back wheels. It should also help in the rain to run more to the back and not lock the fronts.

Yes, makes sense.

We had to run brake bias on the FWD for obvious reasons.

That brake pad information is very interesting. Much cheaper than my current solution but ok.
Let me see how my setup works & then if need be, I will move to this.

Stick to the PFC stuff they will last much longer and at the end of the day will probably be cheaper when you have to keep replacing other brands

UPDATE:

Got the valve cover powder coated, also got a new VANOS line......
Car pretty much done at the paint shop, can collect soon.
Should get the cyl head back this week or early next
Lots of spares on order...

Final estimated cost incl. purchase: R244,705.18

It's not the figure that scares me, its the bold bit
But well done on this, I know first hand so far that E36s are not cheap

Hi Everyone
Sorry for the delay in posts.

So much has happened & is still happening:

Car is painted
Managed to get new 325i pistons 0.5 o/s. Its quite a squeeze running the 325i piston with the 330i crank so the pistons are at the machine shop having them pocketed & clearenced for the head.
Piston rings have been an absolute disaster to get but eventually imported some from Australia & then found some locally. This is because I resleeved the block with steel liners and went 0.5mm oversize. So had to find Chrome rings.
Welding the chassis reinforcing plates in this weekend.
Received the new chrome molly clutch & flywheel from the US
Received many other bits from all over
Front shocks were wrongly manufactured so those have been sent back to the manufacturer. Waiting for their return.
Door cards in
Polycarb windows will be done this weekend
Electrical panel mounted under the dash
Ally short shift gear lever received and installed

There is more but I cant think of it.

Hi All
Sorry for the lack of updates, it has been a wild ride.

In a nutshell, I was planning on doing the Killarney 9 hour last Dec. We got very close but I found an issue with the engine at the last minute & decided to cancel our entry. I would have grenaded the engine on the dyno if I didn't.

I have since pulled the motor out & found that the block has "bananna'ed over its length by 0.025mm odd". This happened during the machining process when sleeving the block. I did ask the machine shop who originally did the machine work, to make sure that the mains were straight & if not, then line bore. The feedback was that it was fine.

So, it is going to KWT in King Williams Town to assist. They have been a great help throughout the build.

I did drive the car briefly to make sure it was tracking straight & it felt amazing!!! I am so excited to drive this thing, its unreal!!!

So hopefully, in a couple of months, I will have this car on track & will be able to race it. The plan is to race it in BMW Club, the odd Endurance & a couple of races in Maputo.
