hey all! i thought i should post a few pics of my ride.
1990 320i
1uz-fe v8 motor.
3.64 lsd
alpina 333 springs.
16" borbets.

she is my daily drive and i use her to terrorise the gti's, st's and so on.

What management do you use?

hey bud! im using the spitronics system, very impressed with it, ive used all of the local units and the spitronics gets my vote.
im running the stock radiator and using the a/c fan for cooling.

hope this helps.

Seems most guys doing the 1UZ conv uses spitronics.

I want to get a 1UZ front cut, and build the OEM ecu and harnesses and stuff that goes along into my Hilux. I came across one guy who can do it for me, but it's gonna cost plenty $$$.

yeah front cuts are much easier coz you get all the groceries! just need mountings, prop, and some odds and ends and youre in business.

Good job on this build, these engines are probably easier to do such a build with are they are a bit cheaper to get going, would still love to one day put a BMW V8 into a e30 :)

@ sunkekur - yeah it works out much cheaper than using the bmw motor.... sadly though! 4.4L v8 from the 540 sets you back around R25k...

@gtech - shot for the offer bud! ive got all the groceries for the manual mod (same w58 box) lol! adapted plate, billet flywheel, 4 paddle button clutch, just waiting for my cams to arrive, then i need to get shims, then ill pull the motor, fit the cams and box... then the fun begins!!!:excited: oh yes and im doing a small mod on the exhaust system too.

very nice to hear, the manual transmission is so much better, engine is really coming to life with it

watch out for the spring sprocket in the cam's when (re)moving


some say the w58 will brake, but i don't think so, how you think about it?


witch radiator did you used? think im gonna use the e28 535i rad.

i saw that you modified the fluid pump, think you already know but there are replacement kits for it

any troubles with fitting the front sway stabilizer?

the w58 box is more than strong enough as long as the application is n/a, just use the model with the steel centre support.

i used my stock 320i radiator, works ok but im looking into changing it. she runs a bit hot when i hammer her in slow traffic.

i simply plugged the holes for the fluid pump and the filled it with oil from the grub screw located on the top.

im going to try moving the motor as far back as possible when i do the manual mod to improve the steering response and mid corner stability.

there is enough space to fit the motor without modding the sump but i have plans for her and decided to mod it before even fitting the motor.

no trouble with the sway bar - i used the "front sump" motor.

when are you planning for the manual swap? to bad you have to made a new cardanshaft, but i'm sure its worth it

your brake upgrade looks very nice! 300mm? do you know from which car they come off? i found some 4x100 300mm Peugeot disks but the offset isn't good enough..

i just love your "sleeper" look! keep us updated!

sorry to hijack the thread i have an e30 with a 7mgte and r154 box awsome power running the same motor for the past 5years .8 bar low boost and 1.8 bar high boost
