Ciro recommends the XS spec since it has no air suspension and less fancy gadgets that can break.

Lol I suspect he wants it for the fancy gadgets
Otherwise he would have kept his land cruiser

I bought one ... amazing cars that air suspension is insanely comfortable even off road . Only thing is when they give trouble which is often lol it's crazy expensive to fix

My buddy had one which needed some major repairs and the only way to carry-out the repair was to lift the whole body off the chassis :ROFLMAO:

For the very brave used car buyer....

I'm actually considering buying one as a work SUV.

From what I've seen on the JLR groups and forums, the V8 HSE petrol seems like the better option over the diesel V6 option. Apparently turbos have failed even on low mileages with them.

Of course the V8 will definitely have the higher fuel bill, but at the same time I rather have a higher fuel bill than maintenance bill. Think V8 is my preference. There are a few on the market in the mid R200k price range.

Sorry to break this to you bud, but the rest of the car is still pretty.... err crap

Had a Disco V8 HSE - amazing car and went with the V8 because of reliability. However, everything else, from the suspension, to the gearbox to the random electronic glitches forced me get rid of it. A new warning light every second day... Engine gave no issues though, but flippen thirsty!
Moved to the Disco 4 SDV6 HSE but newer and under warranty (at the time). Had some issues, but sorted under warranty.

Honestly, some of the best family cars I owned in terms of comfort and practicality.

Just wouldn't touch them without a warranty, which none of the Disco 4's now have.

I can only describe my Landy ownership period as a love hate relationship. The D4 is a super awesome vehicle, but it will leave you stranded at some point and it will always need some sort of maintenance (usually expensive).

I do still miss my Landy though.

The body off concept is actually pretty cool. So much easier to work on the car.

Find your local Landy independent workshop and go check with them before you commit to one.

The new GWM Tank is also worth a look.

I have replaced the mrs daily with a Disco 5 td6. Shall report on ownership.

I have however committed to stick to 10000km service intervals. Motorplan services oil on something like 30kkm, just crazy.

Also orderd a gearbox service kit from ZF.

Considered purchasing an iCarsoft J LR edition to help keep any potential electronic issues in check.
