find a 991.2 cab of some variety for a bit more upfront, plan extentions for days, won't depreciate to 0 like an 850 would.
Don’t get me started on a 991.2 - been in my search history on AT for the past 2 years or so and I was so close to getting one how ever not being able to use it for the school run would have meant that the car would have sat around until the weekend, whereas my M3 comp services the daily school run for my two daughters along with their sports gear and I get to have fun every day.

Hey Gents,

I'm on the look out for an M850i convertible for the missus and wanted to get some general feedback from the community and others that may have some insight into owning these cars.

Personally I prefer the hardtop but the missus has insisted that if she gets one its got to be convertible and she's suggested that this is the one that she likes based on color of the vehicle, leather etc etc

I haven't had any dealing with this dealership before so if any other forum users have dealt with them and can add some feedback that would be appreciated, as I usually only buy my used cars from BMW dealerships, and all my vehicles have active motor plan which I extend.

This particular vehicle's motor plan has expired and was never renewed, which is a concern as it shows that the previous owner may have been too skimp to renew.
I see the car is running on Pirelli rather than Michelin, this could be due to supply or lack of knowledge by the previous owner or cost?
What are you opinions on the mileage, 77k doesn't seem excessively high for its year but it would be the highest mileage vehicle that I have purchased - anything specific that I should be asking?

I've contacted the sales person and requested copy of the vin, is there anyone that can assist with getting vehicle history report - if not I'll reach out to my contacts next week and ask for a report.

Is the price fair?
My bro-in-law bought his M440i from Woodmead Auto and has only had great things to say about them. The car is super clean, they detailed it if I am not mistaken and made sure that it looked and felt like brand new...eve though it is a low mileage car and young year model (2024). Their service was efficient and no hassles, and he has been a loyal BMW fan for over 20 years and he was highly impressed and easily recommends them now.

And he is a fussy guy too, but whenever i have seen anything on their showroom floor (and they have a VERY expensive selection), the cars are always clean examples.

I don't think you will have an issue considering buying from them, just do your normal due diligence as you would off any dealership.

Dunno how old your kids are - but a 991.2 has a pretty decent sized back seat. I can't imagine an 850 cab being materially more useable than a 991.2. And again, from an all in cost of ownership perspective it'll be light years cheaper (and is better looking? subjective).

11 and 13, youngest is one of the tallest in her grade and the older one a tad shorter than her younger sister - their two school bags take up about 40% of the M3's boot space and if its a hockey day then the the hockey bag takes up 50% of the boot space.

My youngest sits at the back during the morning commute and she has about 5 cm clearance between her legs and passenger seat.

The M3 was a more responsible vehicle for me to purchase, well that's at least how I sold it to the missus :censored:;)

The m850i for the missus would be used for weekend treks up and down the weskus etc, and we'll leave the kids at home in the care of their grand parents - how ever based on all the feedback received in this thread the Porsche is starting to sound like a better option tbh.

If the car you're after is a weekend cruiser and the backseat *IS NOT* of concern maybe even a boxster spyder is a good option? NA engine, can be yours with PDK if the manual is a chore and has a pretty special look to it as well? Will be a fair chunk more than you've budgeted here but perhaps a worthy "keeper" car?

Yeah my thought process is leading me down the path of the boxster and if I did go that route then two birds are killed with one stone, the want to own a Porsche and the convertible.

Thanks for the input, appreciated
