Hey Gents,

I'm on the look out for an M850i convertible for the missus and wanted to get some general feedback from the community and others that may have some insight into owning these cars.

Personally I prefer the hardtop but the missus has insisted that if she gets one its got to be convertible and she's suggested that this is the one that she likes based on color of the vehicle, leather etc etc

I haven't had any dealing with this dealership before so if any other forum users have dealt with them and can add some feedback that would be appreciated, as I usually only buy my used cars from BMW dealerships, and all my vehicles have active motor plan which I extend.

This particular vehicle's motor plan has expired and was never renewed, which is a concern as it shows that the previous owner may have been too skimp to renew.
I see the car is running on Pirelli rather than Michelin, this could be due to supply or lack of knowledge by the previous owner or cost?
What are you opinions on the mileage, 77k doesn't seem excessively high for its year but it would be the highest mileage vehicle that I have purchased - anything specific that I should be asking?

I've contacted the sales person and requested copy of the vin, is there anyone that can assist with getting vehicle history report - if not I'll reach out to my contacts next week and ask for a report.

Is the price fair?

So much No. Also they been discontinued in Sa..and discontinued globally. Mileage too high for price.
Discontinuation is a result of the hippies in the EU demanding no more ICE which means that all performance cars will accrue in value so I’m not concerned about that, see it as a plus.

What price do you recon for that mileage?

Mate has the M850i coupe since new.
Within motorplan the following issues came up. He does not drive the car hard and uses it as a daily.
1. Coolant pipes leaking
2. Transfer case malfunction. Needed new unit.

He came from a 987.1 Cayman S and is now looking to get into a used 911 after his lease ends on this M850i. These are not cars to keep out of Plan, unless you have the skills/contacts to remedy issues.

So I did some searching around about the transfer case issue and found this video which may assist others who stumble across this thread in the future

They decent cars they the same motors in the 750i...I have a g11 750i no doubt they thirsty but lovely also m tax applies small things are pricey...lucky the m850 doesn't have air suspension...

Only faults u will have that they prone to is

The wastegates on turbos get stuck

nd the normal oil leaks from tappit cover gasket

Just put an aftermarket warranty i put an innovation plan...they covered my front left shock when it was leaking air I sent it for repairs..even my turbo they paid out

Quick fix though mine got stuck i sent it to fastec turbos was a small bill under 3k

The dealer I know them personally very good guys...chat to the owner imraan saber .

Thank you for the feedback and I’ll look into an aftermarket warranty but will need to do some investigating.

I’m waiting on more pics of the car and need to get report from a bmw dealership.

I was taking a looking at the boxsters - will post some options in hopes of input.

Porsche has long been on my list but sadly I’m not as educated about the eco system as I am with BMW.
