This is where multimaps shine, allows you to quickly switch between 4 different maps.
So if you are out of ethanol, change the map and you're good to go.

Being forced to run an ethanol mix all the time for a car which one uses as a daily is not ideal, especially if you're going on longer trips.
You'd think so...but my current scenario it doesn't really solve my problem. I also just want to say - I am no expert at any of this - but I am the type of person that likes to understand things so I am doing a lot of research online, talking to people and engaging with Bootmod3.

To mention - something I've learnt along the way - the Octane Bootmod3 (and overseas) refer to is not as I knew it. They refer to ours as RON - theirs as Octane. So, 91 Octane is equivelant to +- our 95RON pump fuel. Also, our fuel is not that great and octane is low. So to run on 95pump fuel alone, a 91 Octane map is recommended. They have an ACN91 map - this is specifically for Arizona, California, Nevada, Canada as their fuel quality is particularly bad. I am currenty on the ACN91 file - this was recommended for me by the Bootmod3 seller/initial installer. The ACN91 file accommodates more for poor fuel than the 91 Octane file would. Please show my some grace if I inaccurately state something - learning curve here.

If I want to add the TU Pump, I have to go Stage2 + for the ECU to use the better pump, but on the stage 2+ multim, there is no option for the ACN91 file. Based on logs I have done, running 95 pump on the ACN91 file - there were timing corrections - withing safe limits and not bad, but if I were to go to the 91 Octane file, I have to assume the timing corrections would increase - so not sure where that would leave me. Some say don't worry about the timing corrections - its what the ECU is there for - others say don't ignore it. I generally prefer to caution on the safer side of things. Right now, I am think stick to the stage 2 Multim file, run the ACN91 on just 95 pump fuel and change to the 91 Octane file when adding ethanol. I won't have the extra power from the TU pump but frmo what I understand, it will be safer. Maybe I am completely wrong. (worth mentioning, I am not building a race car - more power is fun to use safely, but I am not chasing numbers - reliability remains no 1).

Stage 2 Multimap offers:
Map1: ACN91 +19HP
Map2: 91 Octane +24HP
Map3: 93 Octane +26HP
Map4: OEM MPPK

Stage 2+ Multimap offers:
Map1: 91 Octane +29HP
Map2: 93 Octane +43HP
Map3: E30 Octane +47HP
Map4: E50 Octane +50HP

I never leave home without a bottle or two of ethanol lol.

I saw you in a couple of rock vids. The car is sounding beastly.Any plans to go to tarlton?
Hahahaha - Mr Prepared!

Thanks, appreciate. Not really, won't pass the opportunity to go though - I am not really building a race car - but I do enjoy some runs in a safer environment.

Would an upgraded charge cooler be worth considering? While it’s separate from the engine cooling system, the B58’s stock unit tends to heat soak quickly, especially at Stage 2+. Keeping IATs under control can make a big difference.

Just installed a brand new OEM one - see last update post :) Also, not really a race car build so OEM is OK for me. But you are def correct - if I were pushing numbers and times if would def be something to consider!

Hi everyone, hope you are all well out there!

Small update since the last post in January...I will explain the changes and work first and then post the updated list for record after.

I have since futted the TU HPFP. Afrer starting to test different % ethanol mixes it started getting fuel pump errors. The TU pump fixed the issue right away. I am now running between two maps - BM3 Stage 2 ACN91 and Stage 2 91 map - mostly on the latter with an E15 mix. The ACN91 map I use if I am only running 95 pump fuel. Logs are good and confirmed by Bootmod3 as well. 294kW and 580nm on the wheels - happy.

The past 2 weekends I've started with the suspension refresh project. I can confirm I have since completed replacing a total of 12 control arms. This includes:
Front left & right tension struts
Front left & right wishbones
Rear left & right trailing arms
Rear left & right track struts
Rear left & right control arms
Rear left & right guiding suspension arms

I didn't use new bolts for the fronts, bit I did buy all new bolts, nuts & washers for the rear. However both front and rear bolts/nuts were all torque'd to spec with the wheel hub at its resting height. For reference these arms had all done 113k km and are 8 years old in August.

Check the video below.
Video comparing the difference between new and old control arm

Below some pics of the rear suspension work and arms. I must say, the fronts looked much more worn than the rears, however after a full alignment done on Saturday, the improved handling is very noticable. There is a specific bend I take on the way home - the target is always 120mk/h - was previously doable but a little uneasy - now its completely settled around the bend.

The car has since gone in for a CBS service at BMW we as well.
I've already bought new engine mounts and gearbox mount PLUS a set of ISC Street Sport Advanced coilovers - arrived a few weeks back. The offer height adjustment, 32 setting damper adjustment (manual) and camber adjustment. They also come with new drop links. These and the engine/gearbox mounts will be fitted next week to the car - this I won't do myself and will go to SCS.

I am still considering changing the injectors as preventative maintenance. There are various reports of the injectors failing on the B58 Gen 1's - and again some don't. Mine are on 113k km now and do use BM3 to check fuel rail pressures after a hard run for any leakage but they are good still so not sure on that one yet. As for suspension - that will be almost completely new end of next week and considering the new coolant system that was fitted (see Jan 2026 post for context) my focus will move towards injectors/coil packs next I guess for maintenance.

I'll do a post after the coilovers were fitted!
