Bmw E46 330i Supercharged or Turbocharged.

For a DIY project a supercharger will be less hassle as you don't need to change the exhaust manifold and you keep the aircon and possibly stock injectors etc..

However I'm surprised no one has mentioned a 330d?

It's cheaper than a x35i much better on economy and pretty quick if you only do software.

Bear in mind an average pre LCI E90 330d auto or manual with software is already on par with E46M3 acceleration up at altitude. With just 50% better economy.

You can even find some for low R100k-R140k. Thats what I would buy if I were you.

I agree with all the comments as they all make sense. Speaking from experience 200k later spent on the same car, once you get used to the power and getting beaten you will always want more. Go with what ever you feel will make you happy. What ever your choice a boosted bmw is:coolShake:

do a budget build bolt on turbo, nothing fancy just basic stuff and 0.5bar boost. Will never go wrong

i agree here,
yesterday i had a drive in a e90 330d that just had a dpf delete and downpipe down, it pulled really hard, and thats basically stock, felt almost m3'ish,
even stock those cars are strong, really,

it had software done just after that but unfortunately i didnt get to drive in it though i heard it pulls like a demon,

apparently the after software results was 200kw and 600nm pre lci

i must say to that for a diesel it feels and sounds very un diesel like, feels almost like a petrol turbo, and sounds pretty decent to, i can imagine with the right intake and exhaust system it could sound very nice, maybe the nicest diesels out there..

basically i want on but am having to much fun with my 330i atm:rollsmile:
the 330d makes my 330i feel a bit pap but very different cars

I totally understand. If you have one diesel and one petrol car it could work.
