Best front bumpers for E90

Hi there,

I've been looking over the net and I've seen a couple of front bumpers I like. The one is from Rieger but they are really expensive but very aggressive.

Then there is this :

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3830

Now I might be getting confused but that doesn't look like a standard front bumper or is it ?

http://socale90.com/forums/showthread.php?t=139&page=2

Now I've seen the Msport bumper and the one in the above thread looks different. I don't like the look of that bumper at all ! Are there different kinds of Msport bumpers ? I don't know, something in that thread doesn't look right to me.

And finally :

M3 after market bumper. I've seen these on a number of websites and I like the look of them. Can be bought locally for under R5k ex fog lights, paint and installation.

What do you guys think looks nice out of all these options ? I'm not a fan of these big body kits that make the E90 look fatter than it already is. So I'll be curious to know what you think.

I would say go for the Reiger on from this:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54762

This one also look pretty cool

Otherwise just go for the m-tech bumper, unless you already have one.
The ACS one is also pretty cool:

Sorry, I am not to clued up about what the different bumpers are called.

As far as I know this is the m-tech or sports or m-sports (not sure about the name) bumper:

mtech and msport is same thing

U only get 3 bumpers from bmw.. "normal", m sport/tech, and performance.

But what is the bumper called in the third thread ? It looks different to the other mtech and/or msport bumper. I think.

I think I have the normal front bumper. It has the exclusive pack but I think that's mainly interior. Here's a pic below :

Sorry for the blurry picture, my camera is crap and I didn't have a tripod available. :)

yup, that looks like the standard bumper, think your best bet would be to go for the ASC (or a replica) one if I am not mistaken it fits to the bottom of your current bumper, but just my opinion.

I'll tell you what I like the best. The Rieger bumper is one of the top ones in my opinion, the ASC is too aggressive for my tastes. Then the Lumma (sp?) bumper . Finally there is this :

After market M3 bumper with a Vorsteiner lip. Now to me that looks fantastic. :) Not outrageous or anything. The kits that make the car look too aggressive is a no-no for me.

Perhaps what I need is just a different lip and not a new front bumper ? I'm not sure if different lips can be fitted on standard bumper.

Hi Epoc,

Yes...it's the after market M3 bumper which you can buy locally. Think it costs R4500 ex fog lamps, paint and installation. I have no idea how much the lip costs or if one could buy the Versteiner model locally. But I think I will seriously consider getting the M3 bumper. I usually hate lips on front bumpers as most of the time they look too outrageous, but it works very well for the M3 bumper.

Everything else I've seen looks either way too aggressive for the car, or just plain ugly. Sometimes it's difficult to find the right blend.

You know, I was first interested in the Msport bumper but from what I can tell, it's super expensive. The front bumper alone is over R6k and then you need fog lamps and all the other bits and bobs. After you've painted it, you are probably looking at R13-14k then installation is another R1000 or so. It's ridiculous. The BMW rep told me the entire Msport exterior kit costs R13500 and that it would be more cost effective to take the entire package. :thinker:

I don't know about you guys, but the M3 bumper looks a lot better than the Msport bumper. If you add the lip it's a knockout in my opinion. Not sure what it is, but I don't like the look of the Msport bumper as it's shown in the third thread.

Moranor, what is the top pic ? Just a standard bumper ? Looks the same as mine. Yes, the Rieger bumper is great but very expensive I think. The only thing I hate about the Rieger kit are the side skirts. It's a bit too much, in my opinion.

your first link is rieger and kerscher... i dnt think u can pull it off with your stock wheels and suspension, and stock sides and rear, coz that bumper IS agressive and will sit lower than the rest of the cars lines
there is a car in cape town with the full kerscher kit and 19s

second link is just the normal stock bumper.. nothing fancy going on there
this is the bumper that can take kits like ACS, Hartge, Hamann lips.. matched up with a rear lip/diffuser as well

third link is just the msport/tech (whatever u want to call it) with a 3D design lip fitted

Then...
M3 style bumper can fit, but you are not gonna find a Vorsteiner lip to fit the bumper
Vorsteiner only makes this lip to fit the oem m3 bumper, which is wider than the replica m3 style bumper
Also, an original VRS front lip is gonna cost you more than this m3 bumper (we've imported before)
Even the replica VRS lip is not gonna be cheaper than 4k landed
I doubt you'd want to cut up a cf piece to make fit
from that pic, i'd say it's a fiberglass mould of the vrs lip made to fit, and thats why its painted
fg on lips that scrape is a bad idea

I actually don't understand what your idea of aggressive is, but for me, kerscher and rieger falls into that category
If you want something styling and flowing with the car, it has to be oem... msport with carbon splitters or performance with a single carbon splitter

I'll go with performance

All comes down to your budget at the end of the day... but do it right :thumb:

Revo, I guess some kits look too aggressive for the car. Some cars are not meant to look like monsters on the road if you know what I mean. :) But this all comes down to taste. I mean, some kits are outrageous and I'm sure some people like outrageous but it almost looks like the car was ready for a show room, not for driving.

To be honest, I don't know the difference between the Msport performance and the normal Msport. If anyone has pictures showing the difference it would be great. You know, perhaps just getting an aftermarket M3 bumper is enough. I also plan on getting wider tires for the rear as I've got 205's right now. Thinking of 225's for a more sporty look.

BTW, Revo, the guy who owns the car with the M3 bumper, according to him it's not OEM. The third thread on page two he says that he would have loved to get the OEM kit so it's clearly not OEM. If his kit wasn't OEM then I wonder how he managed to install the Vorsteiner lip.

I scouted around and found this which I really liked. Perhaps less is more but take a look at this :

What do you guys think of this look ?

Also, I see on the bonnet that there are these cool ridges that enhance the overall look. Is that a mod ? If so, what mod because I really like the look !
