@Nishcat_M140i - Come give your novel please
I've owned my F30 320i for just under 2 years now.

I've done roughly around 35k mileage on it since purchasing it (bought it on 96k, just hit 131k). In that time, the only issue I had was the usual coolant leaks that are common on every aging BMW past 100k mileage. I've had to replace:
Oil Filter Housing
Waterpump
Coolant Flange
Coolant Hose

Apart from that repair, the car has been absolutely solid with no issues ever since and its been around 20k mileage ever since. Of course a 320d is better in terms of fuel consumption and resale. However, the B48 has proven to be a solid platform especially when comparing it to the N20. On an open road, I've seen as low as 5.5 Litres per 100 which is fairly good for a petrol engine.

In your case though, considering you have a G01 20d, I'm not sure if it would be worth while going for a B48. If you had something like an X3 M40i or even M comp, then I'd say it might be worth it. I only bought the 320i since I wanted to preserve my M140i a bit considering its a collectable and its not a car I can daily unlike the G01 20d.

Going for an F30 over an F20 is not a bad idea, I found that the 3 series are often priced a bit lower than the 1 series for some reason and you are likely to find a well spec'd F30 than you are a well spec'd F20 and the F30 has more boxes which can be ticked vs the F20.
