Howsit beemer heads? New to the forum and just picked up a very clean 13' f30 330d. Ive been afforded the great opportunity to send it to @Clint@MMS AUTO and do a full inspection. Maintenance is pricey due to age and normal wear and tear, dont get me wrong, the car is in very good condition.

Any advice on maintenance with your guys cars? Tips regarding anything you can inform me of, be it consumption, short distance or long distance driving, using eco pro mode? What to look out for in the future in keeping the car? Best tuner for egr, dpf, swirl flaps delete, downpipe and ecu remap?

Im thinking of putting 437ms after all my preventive maintenance, but concerned about tire stretching and excessive rubbing due to the offset. If you could help, please let me know.

I think you r brother gave you the wrong information, the 330d will explode when apparently before 100 000kms, especially the 2012 - 2013 models.
I am willing to take it if your hands and save you all the trouble and your brother can help you get a 335i/340i rather?

But in all seriousness, welcome and congrats! Maintenance on these are low and they are absolute bullets, enjoy!

The maintenance at 100 000km is absolutely crazy bru, having 2nd thoughts whether I should've got the car. What price do u reckon I get for it?

Welcome & congrats!

Reach out to @Xcede Performance for a tune and I am sure they can assist with dpf, egr & swirl flap delete.

Post some pics!

Edit: Oooh, you're that brother and got into a 30d! Awesome man! Lovely cars and engines and maintenance will be a bit higher than a little run around but well worth it IMO! Brakes and Tyres are larger and therefore will cost a bit more. Services shouldn't be too different though. Do the maintenance as needed to keep on top of it.

@Xcede Performance looks very professional and meticulous. I will contact them soon at around 100 000km.

Brakes and tires are brand spanking new on the car, however im finding it difficult to process in my head due to the amount needed for the major service at 100 000km, I got a shock. Parts include:

Engine and transmission mounts
Coolant flush
Centre bearing
Dampener pulley
Sway bar links
Glow plugs
Alternator
Battery health
Control arms
Steering linkage

I know I dont have to change everything from this list, but majority of them will need replacement, what do you think? Am I missing anything?

Has the car been inspected and confirmed to need all of this or do you want to look at doing it as preventative maintenance?

I'd say get the car checked out and then depending on the condition of the parts you listed and the rest of the vehicle, take it from there.

When it comes to preventative maintenance, the sky is the limit on a used vehicle. Replacing the alternator just for the sake of it, if you really want to then go for it - it's your car. I'd personally wait until it shows signs of needing to be replaced. I am not aware of the alternators being a common issue on BMW's, let alone the F30.
As for the battery, is it showing signs of ageing? Struggles to start? Dies quickly? Random errors popping up?

Glow plugs, I have never had to change on my vehicles. I have heard that at times they can get stuck or cause damage when being removed and this could lead to the head needing to be removed and possibly replaced even. I know of many diesels with well over 250k km with the original glow plugs still and the vehicles perform fine and start without issues.

Mainly preventive maintenance, the car has been inspected by @Clint@MMS AUTO, he told me at 100 000km a few of those things need replacement, but im a bit more cautious coz I don't wanna get stuck on the side of the road. What you saying is really true, I think im overdoing it at this point.

Control arms and cooling system parts have been a BMW bug bear from e46 days but buy the right parts and you good for another 100k.
Other 3.0d issues are well documented and relatively cheap to fix.
Cry once and enjoy the car for another 5 years, that's always been my motto with old beemers and not once has it left me on the side of the road and I have had plenty with over 300k on the clock.

True story hey, how often would you recommend for control arms and coolant system to be changed/serviced? What manufacturers say and long term owners is completely different so im trying to gauge

I saw this car at Clint's place last week and couldn't believe how clean and well looked after this car is. I've gone to see a good couple of 330D's around the country and this is right up in the top 1% of them in my opinion.

I'm also an overthinker and over planner, so my advice is, for now, you just got the car so don't forget to enjoy it and live in the moment :)

The mileage is also very low, so I think you have some time to plan and budget for that costly 100000km service, so start saving and planning but more importantly, don't forget to also just enjoy the new ownership experience.

I'm also in Lenasia so hope to meetup with you and Mo soon!

Yusuf, your car is really clean and well looked after, stop stressing about 100k maintenance, its a long way to go. besides we will only look at changing whats worn down or damaged at 100k. doesn't mean at 100k everything's going to need attention. so you are safe. just maybe save up a little bit every month for when the time comes, if you dont use the money on maintenance, you can go on holiday or do something nice..

For now just enjoy the car, warm it up before driving hard and cool it down after you had your fun. Take care of the new brakes and go easy on them while they bedding in.

Look after the car, have fun with it, its going to serve you well.
