Hello Fanatics. A (not so) little introduction from myself and our (new to us) 2011 E90 320d LCI auto. Having driven cars from the VAG Stable for the last 3 decades, I wanted to get into a BMW to experience ownership of the brand myself. I've been lurking on this forum for a long time and took the opportunity to do as much reading as possible to aid our decision. The Audi was sold earlier this year and we began hunting for a replacement vehicle. Due to the hard lockdown last year, we were on a strict budget and looking for something to keep for a long time. Rather than jump into an i10 or Rio, we decided on an E90 which had to be Diesel and Auto. So the hunt began for an LCI E90 with lowish mileage.
We traveled around Gauteng looking at potential deals but none of the vehicles looked anything like the online adverts. Really sad that sellers don't fully or even partially disclose issues with their vehicles to buyers. Knowing that the vehicles we were looking at were at least 10 years old, I knew and was prepared to do preventative and piece of mind maintenance to ensure years of trouble free ownership.
I then came across an advert on Gumtree for a 2011 320d LCI auto, in white and with a decent amount of extras and only 128k km on the clock. Bonus is that the seller is a fellow fanatic. From the first viewing, the SO was set on it being the next vehicle in our lives. Vehicle was purchased from @YasserIsmail and was one of the cleaner examples we found.
I wanted to ensure the vehicle was in a reliable condition and one of the first decisions we made was to send it to MMS Auto (@johndoe) for a full diagnostic and visual bumper to bumper inspection. Clinton and Nathan, you guys are awesome and highly recommended. Once I have more time and take a few more pictures, I will start a thread in The Showroom with details on what has been done so far.
Please feel free to leave comments and advice for a first time BMW owner.
