I'm glad you have had such a positive experience with the dealers. I had a 2002 325Ci which went in a few times under motor-plan before I sold it on, and on one occasion when I came to collect the car, I noticed there were some scratches on the center console I had never seen before. One of the customer services guys saw me checking this out and asked if anything was wrong. I pointed the scratches out to him, stating that I was pretty sure they had not been there before. He proceeded to inform management of this and before I left, told me that they would be in touch. I COMPLETELY wrote this off and expected NOTHING was going to happen.
2 weeks later BMW calls me up saying, "uh, hello sir, your new center console has arrived. When would you like us to fit it for you"...this was my reaction...:dropjaw:
This was Auto Atlantic V&A (when they were still there).
I think dealerships differ. Some are crap. Some strive to please. As for taking my car to get serviced by the dealer out of motor-plan...no way. Not enough care and attention to detail is given, in my experience, to basic servicing. Take my current vehicle. Bought just out of motor-plan @ 128kkm, FSH at dealer, last service stamped @ 125kkm no-one else worked on the car. When I took possession of the car found that the Power steering fluid was low, I mean the reservoir was about empty (no leaks), there was A LITRE!!! too much oil in the car, and recently found a loose ignition coil as someone forgot to tighten the 2 bolts holding it down...Basic service FAIL! So no...
