Evening, I trust u guys are well.

I've been wondering, will it be possible for me to do a downpipe without any software tune to regulate the delete of the dpf and cat?

Also, ill probably do an egr delete Also. My mileage is still very low however I do short distance the car here and there.

The car is a 2013 BTW. Tia

Anything im missing to do on the car, please advise

You can do a downpipe without software but you will most likely run into issues where the lamda/oxygen sensors will read higher than expected and will result in the engine light coming on. Most likely, a bank 1 error and system running lean error due to incorrect air/fuel ratio etc that the original tune is expecting. Car will either go into limp mode or run worse than stock power. Why would you not want to do software as well? If you are adding a performance part , the ecu needs to be tuned to accommodate the changes.

Definitely not doing dp without software now

I thought:

Software = tune = 💰

I got quoted 5k for a tune, thing is you need very good guys to do the tune.

Another thing is, I've checked around and found some guys that do a dp for the cat. Dpf is customers. So its basically free and I get to sell the dpf for maybe 2-3k.

Those some guys that I mentioned go by the name as (raza automotive)

What car is it? Because there are tried and tested software + downpipe tuners/tunes out there. I havent checked recently but a tune for sw and dp should be in the 3k-5k range! (Depending on car and tuner)

I got my DP done by Raza and no regrets, great DP and was fitted within 35 minutes or so. I did this after my Stage 1 tune where the car was DP-ready via. the software already. The price seems right for a tune, check with @Xcede Performance for this. solid tune and DP work wonders. If you still hazy, check my thread on Raza DP and Xcede tuning and you can decide further.

Seen some 330d ‘s make some insane torque figures with sw + dp. They are mild from factory and wake up properly with a tune.

Iv also done a DP with Raza on my f series 20d about 1.5 years ago. No issues, car is much more responsive, no turbo lag, and sounds better. Haven't done software and egr , swirl flaps etc deletes yet but planning to do this at xcede soon

For what it's worth, I am also running a DP with no tune on my N55 - there are emissions errors stored but no MIL. Not sure if it's any different with a diesel as I've never done it.

The vehicle was also done by Mohamed at RAZA. Proper oak.

On the euro 3 & 4 emission standard cars, which majority of our F series 20d and 30d models are it's no train smash to do just a dp and no tune.

All 40d and 50d models and the lci G series cars are Euro5> with 2-4 sensors on the DPF which require software if you do a dp. If you do a dp on these without software and the car goes into DPF Regen you are in for a lot of trouble.

The a petrol cars will fuel a bit different and won't be as smooth with just a dp.

I really like that he has an option for a 'FREE DP in lieu for the cat. But I've asked him what stainless steel he uses and turns out its an ok ss.

in no way am I bringing him down, it's just that I rather pay the difference for a more quality ss.

He uses ss201 which is good however ss304 is much better in tolerating heat and doesn't rust as much.

I actually never knew that thanks. Based on my experience, I did the free DP with him, was in and out in no time and haven't had any issues so far
