solved Best tires for f30 330d

Good evening gents, hope all is well.
What is the best all weather tire for the 330d? In terms of grip, handling, tire noise? Also are you guys rocking rfts or non rfts with a spare?

I got an answer from one guy so far that said vitours is the best in his opinion. I currently have bridgestones atm, so I would like to know your guys experience. Sorry if its a common topic, couldn't find much info so far

Definately not Vitours.

Michelin ps4s is by far the best all round performance tyre, following by Conti sport contact 7s. Both of these are Non eft, and I normally carry 2 bottles of Tyree weld in the car if an emergency arises.

But be prepared to pay accordingly.

A space saver spare wheel can be fitted in the F30 boot but then not much place for luggage.

Quality tyres and brakes are THE MOST important part regarding safety for any vehicle!

Dont skimp on what actually keeps the vehicle on the road at high speeds, corners, wet conditions etc .

In no particular order, good options to consider as mentioned above:

- Michelin

- Goodyear Eagle F1 As6 (I have these on my m140i currently and they perform very well)

- Conti sport contact 7

Bridgestone Potenza S001. RFT.

Not saying it’s the best, but after doing 37k km on a set, still have decent thread left. Grip and handling are good, serves it’s purpose for me. Price is also not too bad.

If I have to replace my set, I’d go for the Bridgestone Potenza S001 again.

Tyres, brakes and suspension components are safety critical components that you should never skimp on. These are items that literally could save your life!

Buy the best that you can afford but as with anything in life, you get what you pay for.

Michelins 4S in non run flats is what I would fit.

the PS4S is expensive but lasts a long time and offers good performance over the entire mileage/age of the tyre as opposed to some that drop off a cliff like Pirelli. This (or the S5) will be the best for your use case.

If budget is still a concern after your pricing exercise look at Potenza Sports if sizes are available. They are substantially cheaper and get good reviews but I am on not sure about longevity. I’ve had many sets of Michelin’s and they have all performed well and given good service life even with high torque/rwd setups like you would have.

As for Vitour… please be careful of any other advice you follow from that person lol

Not enough of a difference that you should pay a lot more for it IMHO, but if they are similar prices, get the updated version.

It might seem im not prepared to pay but be sure I won't skimp on tires. Sorry for being vague.

I think the tire sizes are quite well known for f30s as they have been around for a long time. But here you go:

225/40/19 fronts
255/35/19 rears

At this point in time, Michelin has the best quality tyre, quiet on the road, great in wet and dry weather and surprisingly also tough. I have the Latitude Sport 3 on the X3 with 45/40 profile and I am very impressed with how this tyre fares in many types of roads even offroad playing around too.
I used Good Year Assymetric on the M135i with 40/35 profiles and could not fault that tyre at all, so I would say consider that if you cannot get to the Michelins. The Good Year Assym was very similiar to the Michelins however for different use they were impressive on handling and I didn't even lose a tyre to a pothole or cut in the road, it didn't wear out unevenly...was not noisy on the tar gravels of the freeways and perfectly fine on the concrete highway lines too.

Just get some tyre insurance because if those expensive tyres pop and can't be plugged....

TWT offers a decent insurance that cover 2 incidents a year.
BMW innovation offer a more comprehensive insurance, but that is 3x more expensive PM.
