Hi guys

Hope all of you are well.

I need to replace the battery on my f30 330d. Just wanted to check if anyone has any recommendations of what battery to fit besides OEM?

I was quoted R6000 from bmw excluding fitment and registration of the battery. I was quoted R5300 for Willard and R5000 for Varta excluding fitment and registration of the new battery.

From what I know my car takes a 658 AGM 90ah? If I'm wrong please correct me

Would ideally like to buy from a place that can also register the battery for me.

Based in Durban KZN.

Thanks

I had to change the same on my F30 320d last year this time. Used a Mutlu battery, 36 months warranty, was significantly less than OEM and others.

Have had absolutely no issues.

Hi bud.

Replaced my work F25 20d with an Exide 90aH AGM battery (36 months warranty) for around R3800 not long ago.

My friend also put the same in his F25 around 3 years ago and still great.

We got both batteries from Jeremy at Tools R Us Tongaat 083 225 8035. He delivers as well.

Thanks guys

I was also quoted R4323 on a Dynamic 658 AGM battery. Haven't used this brand before. But has a 12 month warranty.

In comparison to what others quoted here this seems pricey for its warranty period being only 12 months.

Things like these need to be of good quality.

Also got another price for Willard, R4600 and R270 to register the battery. Willard has a 2 year warranty.

I changed the battery on my 330d with a OEM battery from BMW about 3 months ago. They were running a special and it came to about R4200, and they took my old battery as scrap. Did the registration myself with Carly.

Maybe check if they running any specials soon. Steer clear of any AGM battery with less than a 24 month warranty.

I checked with them around 2 weeks ago and they gave me a price of R6000 after 10% discount. Will check again and see if they have any specials. Shot man.

Any amount more than R0 to register a battery is a rip. Anyone with bimmercode can do that in about 30 seconds.

In terms of battery - depends how long you plan to keep the car. OEM lasts longer. Simple as that.

If you going to keep if 5+ years - buy the OEM. If not, go for a cheaper alternative.

I called a few BMWs today. Asked them if there's any specials etc on the battery I need. They said no, the price actually went up prices were between R7500 and R8000.

So I've ordered the Willard AGM battery. Will be fitting it next week.

What are the symptoms to lookout for when battery is dying?
Been driving since 2019 with same battery that was in car when I bought it. Just worried it might go soon.

Easiest signs would be a slow start when the car is cold or after it sits for one or two days, and your start/stop won't really kick in due to lower voltage.

How has the willard battery been treating you?
My F30 330d is also starting to ask for a battery replacement.
Bmw midrand quoted me R8 010 and a further R1 800 for battery registration. Crazy....

No issues at all. I paid around R5000 with registration. Well worth it. Yeah I also checked bmw and their pricing was crazy.

My original OEM BMW Battery lasted 10 years..
Just saying... So if the price difference is not significant, you can decide
My OEM battery lasted 9 years and some change. But price difference was significant hence I went with Willard.
