Is this E92 M3 well priced and does know it?

Hi everyone.

I hope you are all well.

I owned an E46 M3 for 2 and a bit years and the M drug has worn off on my brother. He is quite keen on this E92 and I wanted to know firstly if anyone knows the car, and secondly - is the price reasonable?

Wanting to know if it has anything which we should know about.

I would really appreciate the feedback is someone is going to look at the vehicle tomorrow morning.

So I was interested in this car late last year,

In my investigations.

The previous owner had the bearings done by Peter ( he will likely have more info on the maintenance and condition of this car). The current owner hasn't done any maintenance from our conversation late last year (not sure if anything has been done since)

Car was advertised in GP in Jan 2023 for 420k, the current owner advertised for 460k in October 2023 with the same miles as now. (I believe the current owner has the car in storage)

Car was readvertised for 520k last month, now it's 500k.

It's difficult to tell how old the ad pics are, as the car has lci tail light and most of the pics don't show this.

Also the wheels are not oem, that said it does look like a clean example with a pricey suspension setup.

Anyway I ended up finding this video of the car (previous owner)

@1m30.

I know this is the reality for most m3s...but it put me off and I didn't end up going to cpt to view it.

Hope it works out! Manual e92s are becoming so difficult to find.

In terms of pricing, it doesn't seem like a bad option for around r450k price point (in the current market)

@Riaad

Thank you for the message! I really appreciate it.

Do you think the LCI lights being added could mean a rear end accident might have occurred?

Is Peter on this forum?

At R500 000 you have some decent B58 options which I think might be a better bet for my brother - but I understand the appeal of an M car all too well.

Really appreciate it.

Sometimes guys just upgrade the lights. This was a think from the e46 m face lift tails and golf 5 gti to R32 tails But I would check this out properly.

the internet never forgets. @Peter@AEW can add on maintenance but it seems a lot of time has passed since the last time he would have seen it. Perhaps he remembers the deferred maintenance remaining.

I was looking at M6s and M3s a while back and owners will love to tell you the actuators and bearings are done to tick the box and ask high prices, but that’s about the only thing done maintenance wise. It wouldn’t surprise me if this has now become a car like this.

LCI tails are a very popular mod to any car so not necessarily a smoking gun.

Current owner seems to keep failing at flipping this so just keeps pushing the price higher.

Suspension may be expensive but doesn’t add to the value. Would have been cheaper than using OE parts. Big negative on fake wheels.

Plenty of opportunity to create a gem if it checks out though. You’ll probably still need to spend 100k on suspension, wheels and fluids.

When I worked on it the owner kept it in stock condition and is not a philistine.
Car was crisp.

What I would not do is buy it after seeing that vid.

This car has been for sale for a WHILE now. I was tempted to look at it, but saw multiple pictures of it at Coetzee's which was an instant red flag for me.

Do you have any records of the work you did on it? Seller claims that the actuators and bearings were done with you.

Would be nice to hear directly from you if that is the case.

Are you still considering the car after all that has come out in the wash?
I worked on it and have records of the work however I find it strange that you are chasing a turd.

Gents, I am not the one who’s after it haha. Been relaying it to my brother who has been asking the questions. I’ve driven an old BM M car that was worked hard and every time I drove it I was worried about it breaking. I have learnt my lesson🤣🤣

I appreciate the feedback from you all. I will share all this info - much appreciated guys.

Coetzee’s? Apologies, I am new here.
It's a bunch of lovely people who buy cars that have been in accidents fix them up and then sell them.

They bought my dearly departed E46M from the insurance auction that was bent like a bannana and sold it as a collectors item mint conditon car warra warra and conned some poor unsuspecting sap in KZN.
