2015 BMW X3 Tyres

Hi guys

So yesterday I go to the garage and the attendant says your back tyre is low on air and look there's a metal piece in there.

Weirdly no issues or alerts till I got there.

He offers to patch it and it's in the middle so nowhere near the side walls

He put in some air and as I left, immediately the low tyre pressure warning comes on.

Now I'm wondering, can it simply be patched based on where it is OR should I replace two back tyres?

Asking as well cos I read last night that some people change to normal tyres due to comfort. I didn't even know this was an option but would also mean 4 new tyres and my thread is fine

Just asking for suggestions pls about patching And if anyone eventually changed from run-flats to normal tyres?

Thank you šŸ‘ 😊

When I had my E70 X5 I swapped the RFT's with normal tyres when it was time to replace. It made a massive difference in right comfort compared to RFT's. That X5 had a spare so that made the decision a bit easier. I did my homework at the time you can definitely use normal tyres instead of RFT's. If you have Mplan then there may be issues around the cover of your suspension bits.

If you have X-drive then you need to replace all 4 tyres in any case, you cannot just change 1 or 2, unless the tread difference is still within tolerance. can't remember that figure anymore.
