Shew the pains of going through this type of experience. I feel your pain on the waiting game. My car was 90% there when I decided it's time to replace the steering column motor which was damaged by an accident. Now I have new sounds from the suspension, getting bad shaking at just over 120km/h and there is a weird sound when I turn left under speeds of above 80km/h. I have so little trust in BMW themselves lol. So I guess a booking to Tunetech is overdue for a full system check.
Yeah but I'm glad its the rear end, front end damage is way more severe and complicated hence the issues you having. I'm not complaining about the waiting game as I had mentioned to them that I would appreciate if it were fixed properly regardless of time as I'm grateful and fortunate to have another car to use in the meantime.

Glad the car was repaired well and you got it back bud, nothing more unnerving than to have your car sitting elsewhere for ages.

Those small niggles sound like they are easily fixable and better than having major issues like a bent chassis etc

actually 1500km
overall consumption aint bad considering there was loads of spirited driving and lots of in town traffic, also had a bus stuck on the highway which slowed down traffic to crawling pace for about 40minutes

Update , with the car catching on 10 years now, i decided it was time to do some maintenance
it went in for its annual oil service to BMW and whilst there they changed the brake fluid and all of the filters, fuel filter and air filters etcs.
I then Purchased a new set of shocks and shock mounts for 4 corners as well as brake discs , pads and sensors.
Before doing the above i could feel the brakes were a bit spongy and although the ride was fine it didn't feel as good as when i bought the car 6 years ago.
I wasn't sure if doing all of it was necessary and not sure if its the placebo effect but I'm please to confirm that the car feels so so much better, brakes feel much more bitey and have a surety about them, the ride is better , feels more supple going over bumps and more composed around corners.
I was considering coil overs but being my daily and with shitty roads i chose to go "OEM+" with the Bilstein B4s, Meyle shock mounts were used as they were considerably cheaper than OEM which i did consider at first. TRW pads used.

Awesome

I'm also looking to do front shocks and shock mounts soon, just wanted to know how much you paid for parts?

Surprisingly enough I'm also due for front brakes in 5000km So also interested to know the cost of those.

was close to 30k for everything with brake discs and pads
front shocks only were around 5k for 2
shock mounts were R1500 each

Update

There were 2 things that i have been meaning to do for the longest time , 1 was the gearbox oil service and 2 to upgrade the head unit so its compatible with Apple care play/Android Auto

I put up a post a few years back on the MMI Prime from Bimmetech asking if the price was justified, i wanted to keep the OEM look and not get one of those aftermarket screens that look awkward or out of place so using my existing screen was first prize, fast forward to last year i seen the video from Evolve automotive on the Mr12Volt and also seen a post on bimmerpost where a few guys rated it higher than MMi prime but timing was just off as my priority at the time was new shocks, mounts, discs and pads which costed quite a lot , 30k a lot, so i postponed any further maintenance or upgrades on this car until now, after seeing Riaads post i was further convinced about the Mr12Volt.
bit the bullet and ordered it 2 weeks ago, unit was delivered on Thursday afternoon last week at around 2pm and even though i was going through my day on just 3 hours of sleep i got excited and started stripping the car as soon as it arrived i hit a bit of stump midway through and realized my brain was too fried to continue and also since it gets dark quickly , but with some tips from Riaad i kept at it and got it all done 100% first time round was done at around 5pm and took my time the next day to re install all the trimmings properly.
been using it few days and its definitely a worthy upgrade , there are a few niggles or things i need to set on my fone but for the most part its a really solid product that works really well with almost no lag.
my only real gripe is not being able to use my playlist stored on the cars hard drive while im in TV mode.

I immediately felt guilty after i purchased it knowing the mileage is at 122,000km and the gearbox service was not done so called ZF the next day to make an appointment.
I took the car in today at 1pm and while i waited well before 3pm it was done.
Even though the car shifted smooth ,only had 1 previous owner before me and in my close to 8 years of ownership Ive never abused it, geard down unnecessarily or up like a mad man i still had some concern when they were doing the diagnostics and oil sample especially since i overheard the tech telling the customer with his X3 before me he would be wasting his money doing the service as it was too far gone, but to my relief the technician was really pleased with my car and confirmed all adaptations and oil sample was within spec and was good to go ahead with the service.
Really pleased with the great service from ZF and Moe the technician that took his time explaining to me the ratios and pressures of the gearbox even though i didn't understand all of what he said, also he was the only guy that worked on the car from start to finish.

Your install went much faster/smoother than mine
yeah you wont be able use other inputs with Mr12Volt as it takes over TV mode.

you could, if you want...load your playlist on to a USB connected to the unit, and it should work whilst having Android auto active...not sure though, worth a try ?

did you happen to service the diff at ZF as well ?
