Since I had the detail and ceramic coating on the cards for the longest time, it made sense to have the wheels fitted and coated at the same time. Shout out to @Fuzz@Sauber Technik for the advice + hooking me up with a great deal and of course, Azhar for going over and above to make sure the car was sorted to my liking, yes, I can be a real PITA when it comes to my cars. Azhar collected the tyres and wheels from my place, at his own cost and arranged for them to be fitted to ensure no scratches on the wheels, which was a massive concern for me.

The attention to detail, consistent feedback and stellar advice was welcomed, he kept me updated the entire time and went out of his way to make sure I was really happy from the get go.

Whilst the car was in his care, I also arranged to have both the bolsters and steering wheel refreshed. I also fitted a ZHP gear knob as well, as the standard rake got to me and never really inspired sporty shifts, especially since I was used to the E46. Happy to report that the shift action is noticeably improved and it has a shorter throw, feels sublime now. Made sense to have all the interior work done prior to the coatings being applied to lock it in and offer some protection as it wears. Also bought a set of OEM floating centre caps and had them fitted to the new wheels, which seems to baffle most people lol.

I Opted for the Corkscrew exterior package with a 2 year ceramic coating and a Cullinan interior package to freshen up the inside. Really happy with the outcome and think the pictures speak to the quality of workmanship from the Sauber Technik team. Still need to take him up on the offer for the photoshoot and rolling shots but these will do for now..

Azhar and I discussed some spacers for the car over one of the many long conversations that started off job related and then proceeded to carry on into a myriad of petrol-headed topics. I then came upon a set on the forum, 12.5mm rear and 15mm front as prescribed internationally. Fitted them and snapped a few pics.

I felt the car looked a little too butch for my liking, almost tow truck-ish and promptly had them removed, having had the itch scratched. Milder spacers could work but I can't be bothered to go through the effort again and prefer the idea of the wheel mounting directly to the actual hub. Came to realize I prefer the stock fitment of the 359's, but feel like the car could do with just a little bit of low in the future.

With that said, I am open to a set of OEM E9x Competition Pack springs if anyone has a lead..

The next (read: final) modification has been one that has played on my mind since getting the car as I felt the stock exhaust tone on the S65 did not do that boomy V8 justice. Much to the contrary of the C63 (W204), that has a somewhat guttural tone that I am very fond of. Whilst the engine noise dominated the front of the car thanks to the individual throttles, the rear was always a little flat and that disappointed me given my penchant for the classic V8 tone. I had procured a stock rear box shortly after buying the car but never got around to doing the M-Performance mod and life just got in the way, with timing to have this done never matching up.

Upon moving to Jhb, I came across an Akra evolution system for sale.. Tried to strike a deal with the seller however he wanted my stock system, plus a massive cash difference and I was really not comfortable with letting my stock system go. I always considered the Akra system to be a worthwhile upgrade but the tone at high revs is a little more metallic than I like, thanks to the titanium material used. Made sense then to opt for a custom exhaust whilst retaining my stock system, allowing me the flexibility to take the car back to OEM spec at any point.

Therein began the research and I had narrowed this down to 3 shops on the shortlist for 2024 - Viper, PowerPipes and TMSS, it was the feedback from forumites on TMSS (Especially Azhar from Sauber Technik and Firi from Rennzport) and the make up of the bespoke TMSS option with side branch resonators that had me thinking.. Coupled with the fact that they are forum advertisers and have an undisputed reputation for quality - who better then to work on my pride and joy.

Fast forward to Soap & Candy at the Sauber event and I ran into @Nishen@tmss at the event, we had a long chat and he answered the many questions I had and put my mind at ease, giving me that final push to bite the bullet and get the system fitted. I was finally going to unleash the V8 tone in all its aural glory, I couldn't be more excited for my birthday present.

Had the car booked in a few weeks ago, on a very rainy and gloomy Monday.

After a week on tenterhooks, the car was finally ready and I made my way to collect the car, unsure of what the final outcome would be.. Wow! What a difference, the system is beyond my expectation and the craftsmanship is honestly on another level. The system is loud, with an unmistakable V8 symphony and the car really sounds the part. I had so many compliments from friends, family and random passer-bys that absolutely love the new tone.

It is boomy on start up, settles into a slightly louder than stock tone at idle but can really make itself heard throughout the rev range. Happy to report that the side branch resonators do their thing at minimizing drone on the highway, which was a massive fear with changing the system.

A massive shout out to Nish on what I believe is the best crafted performance exhaust I have ever seen done locally!

A soundclip of the car courtesy of TMSS, best listened to with headphones -->
After all the hefty unplanned spending in 2023, my funds have taken a severe self-imposed beating and I just want my bank balance to recover (tongue-in-cheek as I have a host of things coming on the X3, so let’s see how the recovery goes). That brings the thread fully up to date and in terms of what's next, there is an oil service on the cards in a few weeks and thereafter nothing more than regular maintenance (or so I tell myself)...

This car has gotten so close to perfect with those wheels and then the exhaust just finishes it off...i listened to the video a good few times.

Wow!

Congratulations on the work carried out.

Those M359 wheels are THE most beautiful wheels in my opinion. they suit the car so well, and has lifted the look to a new level.

And the sound of the exhaust, couldnt have had a better result. Ive always hated when a V8 has that raspy noise to it anywhere in the rev range, and as a V8, it needs that rumble for sure and TMSS have certainly succeeded.

the car is looking, and sounding like it should, well done.

In the 14 years TMSS Motorsport has been around and the variety of vehicles we have worked on, I have to say that I will always have a soft spot for the BMW M3 V8's. We have worked on a number of them, however to see @KPM3_30's BMW M3 in person was quite satisfying as to how well kept and clean it is, she definitely is a stunner. The way a persons car looks will show what sort of petrol head they are.
Being cut from the same cloth I make sure we treat any car that comes to us as like they were our own, Making sure we give each one their own attention to detail and obviously striving to make the end result better than the owner expected.

This system we have created is the perfect symphony balance the S65 Engine required without trying too hard to manipulate but instead its designed to manage exhaust flow and harmonics. It is our signature system for this vehicle. Sure there are others that can TRY build exhaust systems too, but other people have the same briyani recipe as your granny but still doesn't taste right 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

We are very grateful for @KPM3_30 for sending his pride and joy to us to work on. Thank you for the post and kind words 🙌
Now we all cant wait to hear what she will sound like at the coast!:eek::eek:

Seen this car finally at Sauber Tech at a recent event. The colour is damn brilliant, the rims are perfect. The 359s have always a favorite of mine with a nice concave at the rear.

Well done on as usual Kev on keeping another one of your cabs in absolutely mint condition.

I can't wait to hear thus car in person now, the videos of it are already so damn awesome.

Well done bud, tasteful choices across the board.
