My 1M journey....

FINALLY managed to get my hands on a clean 1M... and i couldn't be happier.

Car came with a solid maintenance history and had alot of parts replaced while on extended motorplan, from drievtrain components to interior trim (pays to have a good relationship with a dealer). Ceramic coated paintwork is clean & a quick wash gets it looking tops again. Has approx 60k on the clock but feels very fresh.

Barebones spec which I appreciate since I have an E92 M3 with iDrive..the interiors would feel too similar. The HK system sounds good, i must just find a way to add bluetooth audio. Alcantara on the inside makes it feel special in what is otherwise plain / basic E82. I do have Mperf alcantara LED steering wheel & gearknob. And will put in the Mperformance seats from my E92 M3 to complete this 1M.

Car has some decent power mods - intake, cooling, exhaust, flex fuel, tune. All reversible with OEM parts on hand. I drove stock 1M's before and it just didnt excite. Loving this one... it can be a bit of a handful though as it does put down close to 800nm on ethanol (!!!). Quite a bit less snappy on just pump fuel. Highway cruises are comfortable (under 3000rpm to about 150kph I think). so not in boost and fuel eco is surprisingly good.

Im not really the kind to want to ring its neck every time i drive, im more for the overall feel of a car instead of the numbers. And this car with the "old school" hydraulic steering, manual box and its short throws, no fancy tech, is very rewarding to drive. Boosted 6 is just the bonus.

Im looking to replace the Milltek exhaust for a titanium system. Just want a deeper ...or better ... sound, Milltek is very quiet when cruising and sounds raspy / buzzy when on it. Very much like an E46 M3. Although i feel the mid-pipe without any boxes may be the cause of that. Dont know where to start looking locally for an exhaust?! Front lip & diffuser is about the only exterior mods i might do. Feel BMW should have done the power dome bonnet on this car though. But looks mean stock standard as it is...low & fat. :) Definitely gets noticed. Sitting on H&R springs and spacers with Michelin 4S in front and Cup2 at the back. I have KW V3 coil overs to go in but that decision will be only to lower the front a little more. Rides good as is so will see.

How was the change from the F80 to the C63s?
Both awesome cars & i'd have both in my garage if things go well enough. I just find the C63S more visceral... more aggressive all the time. Burbly & angry at low speed. Very capable handling / performance when driven hard. Steering a bit too light on top compared to F80...better feedback from the M3 I'd say. Feels as quick as my comp pack did. Nicer interior (perhaps just different.) Personally felt the F80 M3's just needed to be driven hard to get it to have some emotion... otherwise, exhaust sound especially, made it a little too sedate. Its not bad.. just expect it to let you know you're driving something special.. its an M car. BUT I look forward to finding myself a nice spec M3 CS. Reviews say its the ultimate version of the F80 with a different feel altogether? A louder exhaust, more responsive power, better suspension setup, thinned out interior, that bonnet! It will feel special. Interestingly, BMW wont sell you Mperformance coilovers for your M3CS (cancel mplan too if you do fit it) but will sell for your M4CS. Still trying to figure that one out.

Thanks a lot for the info. Currently going through this transition as well. From F82 to C63s Coupe

1M to rule them All

Congrats bro. Dream car of mines right there.

I drove one with v3 kw coilies and it's absolutely phenomenal. I don't think the HNR would even come close to cornering ability and just overall drive.

Let me know when you ready for some Accessories on it...will be more then happy to help out.
