X5 3.0D 07 E70 AC Problems

Hi Guys,

I have to replace the AC condenser on my X5 E70 '07 - its definitely leaking. The repair center did a diagnostics on the BMW as the AC compressor was not kicking in and the error code that the OBD gave trough is for the Internal Temperature Sensor. The repair guys advised that I first sort out the internal sensors before we replace the condenser. BUT they can't tell me which sensor it is exactly what I need to replace.

Now the interesting part is that I took it to another service center which also ran diagnostics but didn't find any errors and suggested that they drain the gas and refill it completely as the compressor won't kick in if the gas is to low. Back to the first repair center - did the regas - compressor not kicking in, checked error codes - got the same error as previous IHKA: Interior-Temperature Sensor DTC 9C58.

As far as I can see there are two Temp Sensors in the actual front two air vents. Not sure if its these two Sensor or if there are any other sensors that I can look at.

Any advice as to how I can perhaps verify that it's these two sensors? BMW Roodepoort quoted R1,300+- for the two sensors and will take 2 weeks to get it (BMW Northcliff has the same price but can get it within 1 day :dunnoanymore:)

Not the best time of year though to be struggling with AC problems
