X3 G01 maintenance schedule

Hi All

In my owners manual I cannot find a maintenance schedule of items that need to addressed at various mileages.

Porsche, Volvo and Ford have a little booklet that lists these items.

I know BMW has CBS (conditioned based service), but surely there must be a schedule of what needs to be done every 20k, 40k, 60k, 100k, etc.

From reading this forum, I know that ZF gearbox oil change, Transfer Case and differential oil changes must be done every 80,000-100,000km. I also proactively change engine oil every 10,000km since last year. (These preventative maintenance items are not encouraged by BMW but align to what's arguably best practice outside BMW).

Are there any other items that should be addressed at certain mileages, besides looking at the CBS for the obvious brake fluid, brake pads, etc? I know suspension (tie rod ends, shocks, wishbones, etc) should be checked as one hits 100,000km.

Thats not BMW guidance, thats ZF guidance. Most car brands using the ZF boxes state they are lifetime oil and not supposed to be serviced.
IOW, you are not going to find that info on a BMW booklet.

I know of plenty BMW's here of colleague with more then 300k km on that has never serviced the gearbox with no issues. So definitely preferable, but not something to lose sleep over.

Ja, the ZF official view vs BMW official view on the gearbox is contentious and people's beliefs in having the oil changed or not is akin to asking them about religion and will likely be met with the same degree of fervour on this forum. I know BMW will not list this on their schedule.

Why after motorolan the typical 30k km then changes to 20k km? I asked bmw and they had no idea. For good measure I have a black oil plan-3 oil changes and filters. Cost me R3200.00 which is a bargin in my view.

I change oil every 10k,I also replace the sump plug. Also run liquid moly in the fuel tank after each service.

Apparently theres no such thing as lifetime fluids.
I would say keep up with the oil changes frequently, check diffs, transfer case and transmission peridoically for wear and tear, jerking, leaks and flywheel around 120 000km.

Basically I seperate the maintenance into drivetrain and engine.
Then ancillary - think shocks, control arms, wheel bearings, fuses etc...... and the list goes on.
What i have also learned is that trying to save R200 and taking a chance on a part that "should be okay" is a bad idea and typically doesnt cost 200 rand after the fact. Preventive maintenance on components that move is key.
I have also learned that going on 5-6 years, lots of rubber components are pretty much brittle and can fail randomly.

I have also been learning that every person who says theyre an expert, is usually not.
One such guy asked me why Im using anti-seize paste on wheel changes.

I didnt bother answering.

You will find more detailed service schedules from US owners on the internet versus here since from what I can tell, MP is optional and many choose to opt for self-servicing versus MP.

FWIW YMMV.
