Hey everyone.

As the title states, has anyone dealt with WULFCHIPTEGNIK in Cape Town yet? I checked past posts but there's no clear answer.

I reached out to them around a month ago regarding software for my M135i - Price comes to around 4.2k onsite and 3.9k if you buy online ahead of time.

Gain estimates - 35 - 40kw and 100 - 120 nm

Even after specifying that the following was done - BMS Intake, charge pipes & intake pipes replaced with Alum, Downpipe, Decat and Akrapovic exhaust. These estimates are given to stock M135i's too and that worries me.

I really don't want a copy/paste map as no cars are alike.

I'm new to the Cape Town car scene so have no idea who to go to. Other recommendations I got yesterday was Rabbit Auto Customs and Dynotech.

I'd like a tuner that would also be able to give me options for the map like the over-run (I don't wanna drive an AK-47 otherwise I would have bought an Audi), the car has a mint condition burble with slight pops now and I wanna keep it as close as possible to that.

Chat to Hermann at HAT Dynamics, been involved with tuning cars for decades, and has an in-house dyno.

Dude,
When you have doubt....just back out rather because it can lead to a kak relationship with the tuner and you will never be happy with the figures etc.

Is your car a PWG or EWG? Mine was PWG, and at altitude with just DP, my car made 204/428 stock and with the map was 264/635 on the dyno (runs were done back to back without taking he car off). The car never gave me a days issue...mapped it December 2019...sold it last month and it was stronger than ever. What also makes a difference is also your iStep level in terms of maintenance, make sure you on the latest level and then get the car remapped.

Chat to @Sherwin@xcede - he had been doing these cars for ages and CPT branch will take care off you.

Hey!

It's an EWG, but I'm pretty sure besides the hardware mods one of the previous owners might have done software at some stage - I might also be wrong here since I've never driven a stock M135i to tell the difference.

I'll have a chat with @Sherwin@xcede within the next week thanks, vehicle inspection service indication also just came up so will need to get that done too.

I’ve taken my car to Wulf. They did my downpipe and overall I’m happy. I opted to go with MHD for the software since it lets me handle that aspect myself. Of course, it’s off the shelf, but I’ve been nothing but impressed.

Hey,

So just an update on here.

After getting the car inspection done (all good and no hassles) I gave the Exede number a ring for CT that had no answer so I dropped 2 mails:

First one was to [email protected] - This is the mailto linked from their website displaying [email protected] and it resolves to a postmaster error (no such mail addy on said domain so the guys @ Xcede might wanna get this fixed)
Second one was sent to [email protected] - Just tried it since this is the one displayed on the site with the broken mailto but got no feedback to date.

Thereafter I pulled a Karen and dropped the CT mobile number a Whatsapp, since well, I really wanted to get the software done by the recommended okes on here but sadly also no response to date.

No drama towards the Xcede guys, just sharing my journey and what lead me to my final decision.

So I gave Wulf another go and ended up chatting with 2 guys for a while over the phone, simple questions about their work and tuning and got very thorough answers and feedback from them. Turns out they do real-world data log tuning (Street tuning) which requires no dyno ofc and estimate around 1 - 1.5h for everything to be done and you're gone. So, I got the online order done on Saturday and got feedback from Neville without delay on Tuesday as was mentioned. He confirmed the vehicle info again and checked my availability for Thursday which we then locked in.

All in all great service so far from Neville and the rest of the guys at Wulf.

Telephonically we agreed on Stage 2, so after the car clears for it on the pre-inspection by their techs I'll update you guys again tomorrow on the entire process with them and the outcome of it all.

No idea why you didn't PM @Xcede Performance on the forum if no joy after the first error message, but understand how you would've felt which lead to your choice. Poor customer service/response is enough to put anyone off.

Your money, your choice. All the best.

Hi there,

Terribly sorry for your experience and it's no excuse for Ashley being unresponsive.

Had you pm'd on the forum or called the HQ Number 0787477760 it would have been sorted.

Non the less fully understand why you opted to go elsewhere.

Will update the website for all sales queries to come to [email protected]

Hey! It's all good and like I said simply explained my journey ;). I could have done a tad more like you and @KPM3_30 said, in my mind I just figured that if the mails and Whatsapp lead to a dead end that it simply was not meant to be, everything happens for a reason. Let's hope it all goes well though lol.

I'll reach out to you guys again in around 6months or so, wedding savings started now but I'm aiming for intercooler, HPFP, Pure Stage 2 and meth kit around that time.

Hey,

Final update just for experience purposes.

So, the booking for today was scheduled for 11:00, we got there around 30 minutes early and we were greeted by one of the Wulf guys in the parking area in front of the shop who then asked if we have a booking. I confirmed it with him and I then had to fill out the job sheet and hand over the keys. He pointed out the Coffee shop around 3 units away so that's exactly where we headed.

Around 10:55 we walked back where we were then greeted by Neville who then apologized ahead of time regarding a client's X3 they had to finish up so they would be starting on mine a tad later. Around 11:18 he came out and I briefly ran some questions by him.

Most important for those that need to know:
Do they offer additional settings for pops and bangs or flames etc since I do not want to be one of that okes making gunshot noises - They do at an additional cost of 1.5k outside of the tune cost.

The car then went in and got the battery booster trolley hooked up to it, laptop connected and they pulled data from the car.
He went into the office and after around 30 minutes came back out, he mentioned that he waited a bit for the custom tune to arrive and will now load it since he was happy with what he was seeing. The tune took around 30 minutes to complete. Unplugged it all and said he's gonna go test it out real quick. While on this note, it's a super weird feeling seeing and hearing your car being driven off.

After around 10 minutes he pulled back in, got out and handed me the keys while shaking a little, asked him if it's all good so he responded that he's not sure how the car pulled before but it's monstrous now. I never took him too seriously since it could as well just be a copy-paste comment but we said out farewells and we got in the car.

Heading out of Brooklyn we hit some traffic till we got to the N1 while just leaving it in Comfort. Gear changes was smooth but I could notice a burble and the turbo spooling that was not that noticeable before. Popped it in Sport+ and moved the stick left and it was right about here that I realized that I'm not used to ANYTHING anymore.

The boost sound and release is just insane and for the first time while flooring it at a cruising rate of 60 the wheels spun up, I can see a huge tyre problem ahead. The amount of kickback and everything is just so overwhelming that my left leg ended up twitching all the way home like a mofo.

Long story short, service was great and I'm super happy with the outcome. Very curious to get it on a dyno now just to see some figures so will try and get that done early next week.

Rk tuned is also a go to for software, for diesels in particular.

Nicely done, well done to Wulf...they definitely knocked it out the park judging from your feedback! Given the car arouns 200km to fully adapt and avoid Sport+ while you getting used to it.

These things swing like animals when the software is done and everyday, every drive is only going to get more interesting and DAMN FUN!!!!
Enjoy bud!
