Just wanted to give a shout out to Sandra and Nico at ZF Cape Town (Bellville) for the amazing work they did on my 435i. I have been meaning to write this review since May.
I do not usually post reviews. However, it is not everyday that the service received from a company exceeds expectations. I bought the car with 78k on the clock and wanted to make sure all was well with the trans (its the ZF 8-speed). Sandra was very friendly, is incredibly knowledgeable to the point that you feel reassured your car is in good hands.
The service was for a transmission oil change. When I arrived Sandra ran me through the work that would be done. Nico, one of the technicians then did a walk around the car with me and we went for a quick spin so we could discuss the current state of the car. The 8-speed was new to me and I was frustrated with eco/comfort mode, to me these modes do one thing... they make you think something is wrong with your car, lol. Anyone who owns a 435 Auto will know what I'm talking about. I have subsequently had a chance to drive others and its the same. Anyways, I digress, the point is if this is your first BMW (only other BMW I own is from 1967) you find yourself wondering what the hell is going on in Eco/Comfort modes (Sport and Sport+ are a joy to drive). Nico was kind enough to reassure me that the trans and drive felt perfectly normal but that the trans oill service will make a difference.
So the car went in... that same afternoon I got it back, and... OMG what a difference! It was day and night, comfort mode felt smoother, quicker, and all round more responsive at the pedal (Sport/Sport+ was awesome as always). It should be noted that when ZF service the oil they do reset some adaptations at the pedal. It may have just been that, or the new oil, but probably it was a combination of everything.
In addition to this, Nico kept a vial of trans fluid for me to have analyzed. The analysis came back 100% normal
Once again, Thank you Sandra and Nico for the amazing service.
